Question to those calling your CC company. Is there a way for them to still allow you to place orders with Amazon, only after talking with you and making sure that you agree to the amount? I want to continue placing orders with Amazon, but if I had to choose I would just tell them to decline any attempts to get money from Amazon.

BTW...Great "Fly on the Wall" conversation with the Amazon exec & minion, Perky Dizzy!! Loved it...but where in the world did you come up with such a creative name for the Amazon chief?

Of course we know it was legit, but the real point is how do you stop the company from claiming otherwise?

I've received 3 of my 5 orders. I was actually quite impressed with the fast shipping because I wasn't expecting them until sometime during the first week of the sale.
When this happened I went ahead and ordered what I wanted.
Several times throughout the process I checked and checked the prices. After placing the orders I checked several times over the course of the weekend in the "tracking" section of the email to make sure that the prices did not change.
When I received the orders in the mail, the first thing I did was check the total charged and it was indeed the same as what I had paid when the "sale" happened.
Obviously my credit card has been charged and I have written proof of what I paid to Amazon.
I have emailed them explaining the sitauation and that I would hope they would not pursue the matter. In the event that they would, they have been notified that I will challenge any extra unauthorised charges on my credit card.
To all those that have jumped on the bandwagon complaining against those that took advantage of the offer...despite the morals of it, I'm sure you would agree that they really don't have a case at all.
If you went into your local Best Buy and picked up something that rang up wrong, no matter what the deal or price is, whether it be $5 or $50 difference, I'm sure you'd have something to say if you received something in the mail stating that they wanted the remainder of what it should have cost, and that you had 30 days to return the item. (say for example you used the Rewards Zone card and therefore have your address and could track you down)

i had 1 order that was half canceled. only one item shipped. they cannot charge me for the amount that was "intended" because that would mean they shipped BOTH items that were ordered...which is not the case.
1 item shipped for a promo that was for buy 1 get one free. canceling 1 item and shipping the other item was purely at their discretion.
by the way...the item that shipped was not free so i did end up paying a small amount.

My CC was charged what my 'final orders' said; only one of the two packing slips had prices on it, but I've got the e-invoices.
So what's the best way to handle this?
* do nothing, watch the CC, call CC if additional charges are placed?
* proactively contact Amazon and say I don't agree?
* proactively contact CC and say Watch out for future charges?
some combination of the above, or other?
Here's my draft email (not sent yet):
"I do not consent to any additional charges on these orders. I agreed to the prices that were shown multiple times during the checkout process, and in various emails/printed invoices.
According to your stated policy, "If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation."
That did not happen, the items were shipped, signaling your agreement to the transaction and I was charged the quoted prices.
Any additional charges on any completed transactions will be disputed with my credit card company.
Thank you for your attention."

I paid with my PayPal debit card, and I've been on the phone with PayPal for the last 15 minutes or so. They said that if Amazon ever tried to charge me more than what they had stated in the emails, invoices, and everything else then I'd be able to file an unauthorized chargeback deal where they would give the money right back to me.
They also said that if I didn't want to mess with dealing with that headache, I could just report my PayPal debit card as lost or stolen, and then when Amazon tries to charge to the old debit card number, it wouldn't go through for them.
They actually really got into talking about it with me, saying that no matter what the total was and what they have listed, no matter if it was an error, they can not charge anyone the "correct" total after they have shipped to the customer.
I'm going to wait until 1/14/07 or so before what I decide to do.

My last post on this or any other thread relating to this Amazon pricing glitch:
1) I placed 2 orders, paying $4 and $5 for cost plus shipping on them, for a total of 4 tv box sets. (Rounding to the nearest $)
2) Both order shipped, and I was charged a total of $9, as per the checkout invoice and the one I received with the DVDs that were shipped.
3) In my view, Amazon could have canceled the orders, and I would not have complained. Instead, they shipped them. That is *their* screwup because they had plenty of time (a couple of days) to review and correct the error before the DVDs shipped.
4) I received "the email" from Amazon stating that I must return the unopened DVDs or I will be charged in 30 days. I will not return the DVDs and will alert my CC (AmEx) to not authorize any post-charges from Amazon.
5) I will continue to shop from Amazon because they provide generally good service and products. I do not blame them for trying to recop something from their screwup, but I will also will not let them escape responsibility for processing and shipping orders that were essentially a computer glitch that they failed to catch (after, undoutedly, receiving a huge influx of orders for that deal.)
Bottom line is, it was YAPG (Yet Another Pricing Glitch), nothing more. If the vendor cancels it, oh well. If they actually ship it, after having a chance to check and cancel, then too bad for them.

i think iam gonna wait and see what other members will get from amazon.anyone got any replies?

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.
With regard to the promotion (Buy X Get Y), I would like to offer an explanation as to how it works.
We offer two types of promotions to encourage customers to buy a particular combination of items.
To take advantage of our promotions that offer a free item for qualifying orders, you must either add the free item to your Shopping Cart *and* enter the claim code (if one is listed for the promotion), or click the "Buy both & save" button on the product's detail page when you place your order for the qualifying item(s). If you have already entered the promotional code, you should not need to enter it again.
When you see a "Best value" advertised on a search results page or on an item's product detail page, we're offering an extra discount if you buy both of the items listed. You are of course under no obligation to purchase both items if you only want one. To take advantage of this type of offer, click the yellow "Buy both & save"
button on either product's detail page to add both items to your Shopping Cart.
You should see the discount reflected in the cost summary on the last page of the order form, before you submit your order.
With regard to your comments, it is always important for us to hear how customers react to all aspects of shopping at Amazon.com. Strong customer feedback like yours helps us continue to improve the selection and service we provide, and we appreciate the time you took to write to us. I shall pass on the message to the appropriate department.
We value your business and hope that you will continue to consider Amazon.com for your online shopping needs.

The Target $5.99 and now this. Even though almost all the titles were crap, can't complain about free.
