they were WANTING buy one get one free...

And my comments were not all inclusive, i left room for exceptions(as in most things there usually are)

I got that email too, it stated a 2 for 1, not the glitch that happened. You still knew you were getting them cheaper than they intended...

Hahahaha you refuse to do business with the company because they had a website error that you decided to take advantage of? *rolls on the floor laughing* Oh my god, that's classic. Some people's children...

Don't get your panties in a bunch. Everyone is giving their opinion. That's mine. You're most likely a new member that came out of the woodwork and made a bunch of orders and now you're trying to justify it.

I didn't even get in on the deal, so back off!

And as for your other post, if you think "people here are amazing..." (sarcastically, of course), then why are you posting? Don't like the forum, then leave.

I find this hilarious if true. Amazon really gave you $10 for receiving free DVDs? Just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier.
Yes it is true.
I just responded to the e-mail saying this did not resolve the issue.
I explained that a $10 certificate is not necessary - I just don't want to see additional charges a month from now.
I fully expected these orders to get cancelled and I did not overly abuse this glitch - I only placed two orders (I'll admit - one of which I would not have placed without the glitch).
I explained that I spoke with the CC company and that any additional charges on a COMPLETED TRANSACTION would be disputed as this was an error on Amazon's part - not mine.
As far as I'm concerned, they can keep their $10 certificate....

OK i have been reading this whole deal thing since day one, and yes I ordered a few sets. I just called there CS and the lady on the other end basically told me that I should have not ordered because the buy one get one free price did not show up at checkout.

I understand this is what someone higher up had told her to say but honestly I am suppost to say oooo no this is the wrong price better call amazon and let them know so I can be charged correctly. I then explained I had not authorized a second charge to my account and there was no where to even authorize one had I wanted to keep these DVDs and the correct price. After another long hold she comes back and asks for my credit card to "verify" my account. No way I am not going to give you that I am not authorizing these charges you already know this is my account. Without missing a beat she says her boss told her someone from another department, couldnt understand which one she said, would be contacting me within 2 days.

I wasn't upset. I asked 3 questions. None of which you answered.

I didnt get on the deal either. So no, i wont back off, if you dont like it, dont read my comments. (ps - you'll note i was a member before all this happened anyway)

I'm posting cause, like everyone else, I get to express my opinions like they do. Never said i disliked the forum, just commenting on the position people are taking with their faults vs. the company's fauts... again, opinion.

Thanks for your time...

I think the decision to not do business with them in the future has more to do with how they are going about retrieving their losses. Debate over the right or wrong of it aside, how can you trust a company that would go back and charge you AFTER the transaction is complete??

Sure it was a glitch, but they did nothing to correct the problem. They should have been scrambling to cancel orders to begin with rather than scrambling about trying to renege on shipped, completed orders.

Just got a letter form DVDPlanet today regarding the same type of thing. I allowed you to get more than 1 free during bogo free. The letter said that I committed fraud yada yada and they either want their dvds back or expect payment. It's not even from DVD Planet - it's actually from someplace called Infinity Resources. I only placed 3 orders. This happened early December so I find it shady that their requesting this now - after Christmas. And with their very slow shipping, I find it ridiculous that it took them this long to catch their error. I don't think I'm going to worry to much about it as I already gave some as gifts and am not going to pay them the money they are requesting...

Oh dear god, after reading some the these responces, I am embarassed to even visit the same website as you. Every one that took advantage of this deal (or abused this deal, like the one guy that said he got 6 sets) are the biggest cry babies I've ever seen in my life. You just knowingly took advantage of a website's (not a B&M store) mistake.

To the one guy saying that Wal-Mart wouldn't track you down for a pricing mistake is 100% correct. Wal-Mart wouldn't let you get anything for free in the process. How many times have you taken up a product to a POS and it charged you $0.00? Hell, there are also price laws here in Michigan that require every single product on the shelf to be priced, if there isn't a price on something do you just pick it up and walk out the door with it because you think it's free? No, and why not? Because that is stealing.

To put it simply, this wasn't a "deal" by Amazon, it was a mistake. You more or less stole from the company for their error. This is no different that B&M stores leaving items unpriced. I show less pitty to the people who took advantage of the mistake than the people to abused the mistake. I after all would have gotten both Rescue Me sets for free too if I had the chance, but to sit here and bitch because they honestly made a mistake of it is disgusting. Swallow your, albiet shallow pride, and return the items you took.

For the people that threaten not to use Amazon again is laughable. You just stole from the company, and you threaten not to use them again? Are you serious? What an embarassment of life. As to any one crying about Amazon threatening to charge your CC over their mistake? Get a better job, then you can buy the sets, and not steal them.

Blacklist? No. Flag? Definitely.

I love people who jump on a "too good to be true" offer and then bitch when they start to have problems/issues with it. That being said, Amazon made a mistake shipping those orders. They really don't have much legal recourse now. I suppose the e-mail was a lame attempt by someone in their legal department to try and recoup losses, with the caveat "well, if anyone complains, just tell them to keep their DVDs".

I think the point he(and I) are making is that this isnt a case that the company is advertising one price then says "oops" then goes to try to get more money. People were taking advantage of a glitch that the company was not intending. If they had advertised that "deal" then backed off it, i would be right with you.
But the fact that the people that took advantage of the glitch are leaving solely cause the company caught them is where we find humor in it.

This is a case of
regular shoppers/company trying to get more money later
vs.
glitch predators/company trying to get more monet later

again i stated that the items shipped, Amazon has nothing now. But the people that ordered arent as innocent as they are trying to make themselves out to be.

The strange thing with my two orders was that I also ordered a couple of Criterion Preorders with each order. Not only did they not ship until Tuesday, but they canceled the order for my criterion dvds and just sent the 'free' sets. Doesn't make any sense! They had plenty of time to cancel them and instead canceled the preorders before the items were even shipped, why wouldn't they just cancel the whole order?

I did a lot of my Christmas shopping at amazon this year, so I like to think the two "Rescue Me" sets I ordered and got for free are mine to keep, and I will challenge any additional charge to my credit card.
So what if I'm rationalizing? Amazon gets a lot of my money and will keep getting it -- as long as they never charge me more than the amount agreed to when I click "Place your order."

Spend it! I know I would if they were dumb enough to give me one. All I got were a few free DVDs.

Actually! I've got 3+ receipts where items rang up $0.00!

..admittedly these were 2nd items in BOGOs at Best Buy...but I just felt like (to no real end, let me add!) being a smartass

(actually the same for other bxgys at borders...)

This article is kind of interesting. I know it happened to amazon.uk, but I think it still MIGHT be relevant because it involves the same company (Amazon). I think a lot of people are typing up their opinions, but no one is really listening, they are only listening to their own beliefs. You really can't expect anything different in this case...terms like morals, ethics, etc. vary greatly from person to person. I just thought I would post this for those that are discussing Amazon's policy in previous cases SIMILAR to this (stare decisis?).
