DDD and box sets?

Anyone order a lot of box sets from DDD before? How do they survive the delivery? Do they end up having dented corners and stuff, or is the packaging pretty good to keep the box sets in good condition?

In the past when I've ordered a lot of box sets, they arrive in a great big box. I didn't get any dented corners or broken sets, or anything else that was wrong.

I've had quite the opposite experience. When I order a bunch of box sets they always arrive in terrible condition. They look like they were kicked around and stepped on; the corners are terribly smashed and the boxes creased like crazy.

Wre they shipped by UPS or Fedex?

My big 20% off sale orders are usually exclusively tv season sets and I've never had a problem.

I think it was UPS both times. Is there a way to choose fedex?

Don't know. I think DDD has an arrangement with UPS.

I figured that though. They are probably the worst for throwing stuff around. The USPS is the best way to go.

I've had no problems with boxed sets from them. A couple of times I've gotten disks from them that came off the spindle and got scratched all to hell but neither was a boxed set (and both times I had no trouble replacing them).

This is what has me worried about ordering something like Forbidden Planet: Collector's Edition. In addition to the DVDs, you've got that gorgeous looking tin to worry about arriving dent-free. Then of course there's poor Robbie. I can imagine him lying in a million pieces inside the tin

I've purchased box sets from them at least a dozen times, including as part of their big sales events, and have never received a damaged box.

Count me in the "rarely had a problem" camp with DDD and when something was wrong (scratched disc) they were quick to issue an RMA and get a new one out. My chances of getting damaged goods from Overstock.com on the other hand are almost 100%.

I have purchased more than a dozen box sets in the past from DDD. (and about another 2 dozen to arrive soon). All have been in great condition except for the 2nd season of Deadwood. The outer box of Deadwood was destroyed and completely broken but all the inner packaging and disks were in good condition.

I've ordered a bunch, too, with no problems so far. Better than Amazon.com.

They've been better lately. I'm curious to see how my latest order arrives.

So far one in five I received have been damaged. While the shipping box looked fine, I opened it to find my Herzog set stomped. So, I mailed it back today. Since they don't compensate for return shipping, most of my 20% discount went away.

I always seem to get a few in an order of about 15 that have dented corners. Not usually too bad. I've never had any bad enough that I complained about them. I pretty much expect it now.

My deluxe edition kong set actually came wrapped in *GASP*...bubble wrap. This is definitely a new practice from their shipping dept.

Received my two Ultimate Bond collections squeezed together in one small box with the corners all dented. I'm not anal about my DVD packaging especially, so I'm not gonna send them back, but it is kinda crappy to ship this way.
