That's fair. I guess I just expect too much from sellers on E-Bay. I pay the same day the auction ends and don't think that it's too much trouble for the seller to let me know that they have shipped the item. I also don't think that it's too much trouble for them to ship it within 24 hours of the payment clearing PayPal unless they state in the description that there will be a delay. Maybe it's just me.

2-3 days for the seller to ship an item after payment is reasonable. Most people usually work during the week and can't always get to the post office during business hours to mail something out due to their work schedules.

Which would be fine but it shouldn't be too much trouble for them to state that in the auction. Again, I guess I expect too much.

It takes seconds for a buyer to pay for an item via PayPal and they can do so 24/7. It takes a bit longer for a seller to package an item, address it, get to the post office during business hours and email the buyer with shipping/tracking info. Heck, when I receive payment by check or money order for an item, it is not uncommon for the payment to arrive a full week or more after the auction's close, presumably because the buyer must go to the bank, the post office etc. It's simply unfair and naive to expect shipment the same day as an electronic payment.

Agree completely! A little patience goes a long way, and I say this as a seller who has waited up to two weeks for payment to be received, but has always mailed items out within one business day of payment clearance. I'm fortunate enough to have a post office 1/2 block from my apartment, but not everyone has that convenience, and my items are easy to prepare for mail (CDs, videos, DVDs).

Unfair: (not fair; not conforming to approved standards, as of justice, honesty, or ethics)

Why would it be unfair to expect someone to ship something the same day or at least state in the auction description that it will ship "X" number of days after payment? Is it too hard to type a few words to that effect?

Naive: (having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information)

Seeing as I have been on this forum and E-Bay for undoubtedly longer than you, I don't show a lack of experience or information. My judgment isn't lacking either. You on the other hand did show a lack of information by not reading my second post in this thread in which I have no problem with giving the seller 2-3 days after payment to ship :

"but it shouldn't be too much trouble for them to state that in the auction"

Cross ResIpsa and Marty888 of the list of E-Bay sellers I would ever do business with.....

PLEASE - promise you will abide by that statement - I'll count it as a blessing.

Really, read my post ..... I patiently wait for payment from buyers, and then mail out items wihin one business day of payment clearance. And that's not good enough? With a feedback of over 1200 and not a single negative in 6 years, I think I'll survive very nicely without your business.

Funny, I had almost the exact same incident recently, almost to the T.

I won the Matrix Platinum LE DVD Collector's Set. I won it for like 18.50, I sent him the usual, "I won, please send me your info"....yada, yada, yada. No response after 2 days. I figure I'll go through ebay checkout and send him a money order (he was only accepting money orders or checks) and then tell him I sent a money order, please let me know when you receive it or if you have any problems, whatever. 2 weeks pass still no response. I send him another email giving him the benefit of the doubt maybe he never got my email or maybe he's having second thoughts on parting with the set....just email me back and lets deal with it. 3 days later I get my original money order back with a return to sender stamp on it from the post office, saying he doesn't live there. The addy ebay provided, he obviously didn't wanna part with it. Whatever...at least I got my money back.

I promise. And as "naive and unfair" as I am as a buyer, I've been buying on E-Bay for at least 6 years and have no negatives either....it's a miracle huh?

But to be fair, my problem with you isn't your business practices, it's your agreeing with ResIspa that my expectations were out of line even though he started by not reading my post.....

Update: I've given the seller more time, and in my opinion, way more time than deserved. The auction ended two weeks ago, sent payment 13 days ago, sent three emails within the next 5 days, and have not gotten a response or my package. I contacted another auction winner from this seller, and they said they got their package in, a week after the auction ended. I was able to get phone number like a previous poster suggested, and it tells me "call can't be completed as dialed, check number and try again". At this point... what do I do next? Check w/ the post office to see if the money order has been cashed? Email ebay and file complaint/fraud? sent certified letter to the address I sent money order to? leave negative feedback? TIA.

You should give this guy as long as he wants to ship because he may live 5 miles from the post office and obviously doesn't make enough money at his job to pay his phone bill....you're being unfair and naive!!!

Seriously though, you should definitely contact Ebay (though it won't do much good). I would also check with the Post Office to see if the money order was cashed and ask them if it isn't if you can cancel it (doubtful). You may be able to sick the Postmaster on them for mail fraud though....

Thanks. I filled out an 'item not received/very different from described form', and ebays says will give seller 10 days to respond or ebay will refund me $1 according to their insurance gurantee. Whoopee. In the meantime, I'll call 411 and see if I can contact either the person I sent the money to, who lives at that address, check w/ the post office, etc. Heck, if I can find this person and still get nothing, I'll taker her to People's Court

Well, suppose the PayPal payment is made after business hours or on a weekend? How could the seller possibly ship the same day in such cases?

And by the way, like marty888, my auction listings clearly state that I ship within one business day of confirmed payment. Why do I include this term? Because it demonstrates to my buyers that I offer something beyond the "usual standard," which as others have pointed out is closer to 2-3 days after payment.

Try again. I registered with eBay in 1996, soon after they appeared, and have bought and sold hundreds of items on eBay since then with 100% positive feedback. You apparently have little to no experience as a seller on eBay, which would explain the rather large chip sitting on your shoulder on this issue. In any event, I don't know why you decided to turn this into a pissing contest since my comments were not directed at you personally. Notice that I do not refer to you or any of your posts at all. I was merely voicing my opinion that buyers (in general) who expect same-day shipment are unreasonable. My guess is that you fall into this class of buyers and therefore mistakenly assumed that my post was directed at you personally, which again it was not.

Nice personal attack. Unfortunately, this will not work as my eBay ID is different than my forum ID. If you will supply your eBay ID, however, I will happily add you to my BBL on eBay. Have a nice day.
