That wasn't a legitimate post. The giveaway is that he refers to using a 10% off Border's coupon but there is no current 10% off coupon. The current coupon is 15% off.

And where did he talk about any kind of current coupon? The fox TV sets have been 14.99 off and on for months now.

There sure is a lot of dishonest people here. Essentially stealing from stores by buying something somewhere at a lower price and perpously taking it back to somewhere else to get extra money for it. No matter how you try to justify it, you are purposly trying to take advantage of the store.

Getting a DVD as a gift from someone else and returning it might be OK but definatly not if you bought it yourself.

Stores should find a better way of marking their product so they will know you are trying to rip them off by having them pay you for another store's product. Harder to remo store labels or markings. Since DVDs are shrink wraped, it shouldn't matter if a DVD has the store's name stamped on it somewhere.

I seriously hope not. There is a small population of DVDs that come with a slipcover outside the shrinkwrap (eg, some Disney/Fox/Sony titles). Some stores put their price tag with Crosspoint security pad on the slipcover, which has an antenna layer and is pretty hard to remove without damaging the slipcover. Fox seems to provide a transparent, removable sticker on their slipcovers for this purpose, but some stores just don't seem to take the hint and stick their tag somewhere else.

Just returned 3 DVD's at Best Buy for about $85. Aside from the clerk rolling her eyes a bit, no problem getting a store credit without a receipt.

Exchanged 3 DVDs for credit at Best Buy today and they didn't ask for my driver's liscence. Looks like I get an extra return this year. I'll save it for next Christmas.

Last year was a huge hassle at BB. This year, returned a few movies and box sets - over $300 in store credit - they never asked for a drover's license or even blinked an eye!

Returned 3 DVD box sets to Suncoast for $120 credit. Used it and their current B1G1 on boxed sets to get 4 DVD sets. I didn't try to deceive at all, I simply asked for credit and the management said that since they were shrinkwrapped, they would ring them in as new. Good lot of people there, very helpful and knowledgable. I just wish they had realistic prices. Every time I walk in there, it's like I've had to convert cerrency rates or something.

Borders

Borders still rates as one of the best stores to return DVD's at without a receipt. Just returned Buffy season one and got the full $40 store credit... Now I just need to wait for a decent sale that will bring down their sky high prices so I can buy something... Maybe another 40% off llst price sale???

You can use the Borders gift card at Amazon. You'll have to go to www.borders.com to place your order with the gift card, but it's Amazon with Amazon's prices.

I've been getting 30% and 40% off coupons in the last week from them. I think the latest is for the 18-20 (or 19-20?). I think it was 30% off 1 item, and they also ahve 40% off box sets. So keep an eye on your e-mail, or maybe good for the coupon code.

I usually get a good deal at Borders. I tried to return a season box set of Buffy at B&N and they gave me a hard time. Went over to Fye's and they easily gave me store credit for 54 bucks... woohoo, used it for the latest Looney Tunes box set.

Re: Returning DVD's without a receipt??

Anyone know what BBy's current policy is? I've only once returned something there without a receipt, but that was several years ago. The item I have is rather pricey ($90), but at least it was bought at bby.com (within the last year I believe).

Re: Returning DVD's without a receipt??

The problem you may face with Best Buy is that BB has been clearing out a lot of catalogue and "frills-laden" titles in the past few months, and just alloting shelf space for the newer releases and rotating through the popular titles, and sending back the stuff that doesn't sell back to their warehouses for online sales. So if your return item isn't in that local Best Buy's inventory, they probably won't take it back if you can't produce a receipt for it.

Re: Returning DVD's without a receipt??

Will Best Buy do an even exchange on an opend blu ray with no recepit? I need to switch a copy of "Let the Right One In" with the correct subtitles and I've misplaced the recepit.
