It would be the same storefront. I am checking into the feasibility of dropping in th QM shipments. I am just a little nervous about them being misrouted.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark -

As a followup to my last post in this thread to which you didn't respond, the following sites all now have The Man in the Glass Booth available for preorder separately from the American Film Theatre Collection Two set of 5 films: DVD Planet, CD Universe, BestPrices.com, buy.com, Best Buy, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

As I asked before, are you going to?

Well since Movielib brought up the subject about not having certain things. How come you never carried the recent release of A Man Called Horse? I emailed the company about it, but never got a response. I think it is a great movie, and with the death of Richard Harris, I would think there would be interest in his movies.

The title has been listed on our site since 04/06/2003. You can find it here:

Thanks, Mark. It wasn't there this morning. I don't know how titles get added to DVD Price Search but your listing is not on it yet. You have the best price by far.

I am going to order from you now.

I did not add it until this afternoon. So many titles...so little time.

A Man Called Horse

Your title search does not bring up the title. Typing in the exact title, bring up the movie Return of a Man Called Horse only. I ended up ordering elsewhere, and I am sure anyone searching for the title would have as well. Thanks for the response.

Well if you typed in Richard Harris in the search you would have came up with this
Richard Harris movies at Digital Eyes

Nice how you "rubbed" in the remark on buying it somwhere else.
Maybe Mark should come to your house and help you order.

It wasn't intended to rub. I simply stated that I bought it elsewhere because a search for the exact title brought up nothing. I waited until a day before the release and emailed them as to why it was not listed on the site and my desire to order from them. I never received a response, so a week later I ordered elsewhere. I have found similar flaws in the search engine for Digital Eyes in the past, and I always try to point them out so they can correct them and be a better site for their customers.

I will agree that the search engine needs a "tune-up"....didn't mean to get so bitchy......

BTW DE is running a double your bonus points for all orders shipped this week

I just placed my first order with DE, after finding a number of titles cheaper there (using DVDpricesearch.com). This was a first in my experience, plus the free shipping (and coupon for newbies) were helpful. DDD, Amazon, and DVD Empire get one addicted to free shipping.

I hope things work out with my order.

Mark, do you know when the next Quote Machine database update is? Out of my list of DVDs that I wanted to trade in, the database didn't find any. That includes bigger releases like Jungle Book 2, Sounder, Wes Craven's They, etc. And under "Newest Additions" it doesn't list anything, so I assume it's either out of date or buy orders have been put on hold?

Thanks,
Brian

Now that Digital Eyes and DeepDiscount are under the same umbrella, will the two sites ever just combine? You both are selling basically the same thing, wouldn't it be cheaper to have everything under one roof?

The sites will not be combining. We have different selling philosophies so we still will operate as separate entities.

It is interesting to compare the stores. Example, for the French film, La Chevre:

DDD Price: $20.22; DDD item number KOV002732D
Eyes Price: $17.97; Eyes item number KOV002732

What does this mean? I have no idea! But the item numbers imply a good bit of commingling, and their emails resemble each other: "We thought you would like to know....
The item(s) listed below shipped today."

We do use the same system for order processing so e-mails and catalog numbers are very similar. There are different rates for shipping and different prices on DVDs. As I said before, we do have different philosophies and policies and will continue to operate as seperate sites.

Thanks,

Mark, I really appreciate your real-time presence. When DDD did its (quite painful) software switch a few months back, their active participation in these threads really helped things. It's good to feel you care and pay attention. That means things will work out (they may have already). As far as price differentiation, Eyes was cheapest on a number of french films (which have interested me lately, so Eyes entered my radar). But it can be hard to come up with 3 at a time (much less 4 for Empire, which has the king of in stock status, order changing, total flexibility software).

I've said before DDD's prices and Empire's software = best place to buy (on average, prices vary by title, as DVDpricesearch.com makes clear).

We currently are offering free shipping on any side order until the end of July. I expect we will probably be extending it, but we were only charging $1.50 for a small Media Mail order of 1-2 items. I am in the process of trying to return some of our flexibilty in the order process.

Thanks,
