I wonder if the HD-DVD edition will retain the off kilter colour scheme that the DLP 'print' had (the yellowish tinge in and around the faces of Billy Crudup and Tom Cruise)

Is paramount doing a day-and-date release of this on DVD and HD? I thought I read that the HD is suppose to come out in late november...

I would bet on an hd-dvd release day and date....but who knows because nothing has been officially announced.

I'm definitely all over this...as anyone in the M:i-III threads would know... my favourite movie of the summer so far and easily the best of the series.

Hopefully the audio/video doesn't disappoint, it has the potential to be a great disc to showcase your system.

I've held off buying the previous two, because I want to buy the box set of all three. Yet, I've never seen any mention of one. I'm sure they'll come out, don't you? If not I'm sure BB will have some deal on the previous two when number three comes out.

I'm pretty sure TheDigitalBits said in their rumor mill that MI3 would be released in 1-disc and 2-disc versions. I will of course get the 2-disc.

First up, M:I 3. (Or should we say MI3?) This would normally go in The Rumor Mill, but for ease of posting this afternoon here's where you'll find it (qualified as unofficial appropriately): Paramount has now set 10/30 as the street date for their DVD (and very likely HD-DVD) release of Mission: Impossible III. Yes... you read that right. It's a Monday. "Mission Monday" as the studio is calling it.

There will be two versions on DVD - a single-disc including the movie along with audio commentary by star Tom (not Pablo!) Cruise and director J.J. Abrams, The Making of the Mission featurette, 5 deleted scenes and more. Then there will be a two-disc edition that includes the disc just mentioned along with a second platter of additional bonus material: 8 featurettes, marketing campaign material (poster art, trailers and TV spots), a production photo gallery and more. Watch for the official announcement from Paramount very soon.

According to the USA Today, Paramount's Mission: Impossible III will become the first movie released simultaneously on DVD and both next-generation, high-definition disc formats.

Due October 30 as a special collector's edition DVD ($25), Blu-ray Disc ($30) and HD DVD ($30), each two-disc set includes four behind-the-scenes featurettes and deleted scenes.

The HD DVD also features "enhanced commentary" by Tom Cruise and director J.J. Abrams, who says he's "thrilled" with the HD releases because "people will get a chance to see M:i:III with the best possible picture and audio."

BD's current capacity of space has prevented them from containing many features. I don't expect anything different with MI3. The HD DVD will likely be the best option....again.
