I got Serenity for $24.99 when it was released at Walmart. Circuit City, at least mine, sells all of their HD titles for $24.99, regardless of studio.
Walmart seems to sell Universal ones for $25 and WB's for $20, same as Amazon.

Awesome deal, unfortunately like most others I already bought it for much more than that ($25 at Wal-Mart).

I have the DVD version. Should I double-dip and get the HD version? Is there a really big difference? I promised myself I would rent the movies I have on DVD and buy only new titles that are released, but at this price, its hard to pass up.

I haven't seen it yet at all, but it is supposed to be one of the best transfers yet. At least it is getting a lot of votes on avsforum for 'reference disc'. Hard to pass up at this price...
Of course, everyone has different opinions about that. For example, I disagree with the CoR HD-DVD review on this site. I think CoR is the best HD I've seen yet. I actually spent the whole movie looking at all the fine detail to try to spot imperfections-- and couldn't find any. The review here even ponders if some of the CoR is actually not HD at all, but simply upconverted SD... inconceivable!
I've got the SD version at home now from Netflix... I think I'll pick this up and return the SD version so they can start sending me the HD-DVDs in my queue...

It's a fantastic disc. A/V quality is top notch and I enjoyed the movie, despite not being a big fan of Whedon and this kind of sci-fi in general. I'd say $15 or less is a steal.

CC, like every retailer, will follow the dollars. I highly doubt they will throw in their lot with one particular camp after their DIVX disaster. Then again, corporate America is so often clueless that CC might just throw all their chips in one basket for a second go round.
