"S.O.S."
Rose is surprisingly and vehemently opposed to Bernard's plan to create an S.O.S. signal; romantic sparks are rekindled between Jack and Kate when they trek into the jungle to propose a "trade" with "The Others"; and Locke begins to question his faith in the island.

Looks like a Rose and Bernard centered show. Does anyone really care about these characters? They have been virtually absent from both seasons 1 and 2. I'd rather see another Kate flashback.

well, considering that there have been black/white themes shown in past episodes (the stones, the backgammon game, Locke's eyes) perhaps this will shed some light on that.

What big questions are there left to be answered in flashbacks?
How Locke got in the wheelchair.
How Jack got his tattoo (I know it's a real tattoo, but in S1 when he was trying on his tux, they editted it out, so I think it'll come into play at some point.).
Maybe how Hurley got out of the mental clinic?
Libby's whole backstory (there better be one).
We also don't know why A-L was in Australia, do we? I think everybody else (but Rose and Bernard), we know why they were there.
That's all I can think of now. Anything else?

Well, if the preview clip they have up at AOL (http://television.aol.com/feature/lost_tv) is any indication...a lot of shit must be going on this ep. Usually there are 3-5 clips about a minute long each, this week there is just 1, and it's of something that would seem pretty big - but they wouldn't show it now if it was big compared to the entire episode.
ETA: Tonight's show will go 4 minutes over.

I wish that starting at the beginning of season one, we'd have been tracking all of the unanswered questions. There are so many that no doubt we'll never get answers to all of them. A few months ago, someone posted in a weekly thread that had just gotten into about half of season one, and they posted a bunch of major questions at the time for them that had fallen off the radar at that point in season two, with little or no resolution to them. It'd be interesting to see how many unanswered questions there still are.

In fact, i wouldn't mind getting away from the damn flashbacks for a while and showing us more island action.

This episode was touching...that's the best word I could use. Bernard's frustration was kind of funny, as well.
Of course, none of that matters with the appearance of
.
Now, a 2 week wait.

I wouldn't. Kate is played out. Is there anything left to learn about her? At least with Rose and Bernard, we don't know a thing about their past aside from their marriage. Either way, the majority of this season's flashbacks have been boring filler.

Bernard is looking and acting like a 60+ year old Don Lapree when selling the idea of that damn sign for planes, etc. to see.
