I searched ComiCon, so …sue me if I missed it.

Anyone else going/ Any Meets? I’m really hoping to participate in the portfolio event.

Got the latest Update in the mail yesterday. Those planning on going and buying their ticket day of, should read the website. They're warning of Saturday selling out again and, possibly, another day will sell out. They also have a new 3-day pass (omits Saturday but includes Preview Night).

The website's recent update also hints at upcoming panels ("Heroes" is planning a big thank you panel) and lists some of the exclusive figures. I'm excited that George Romero is gonna be there.

I'll be there from Preview Night through Sunday. 55 days away!

$5 can buy you a case of Mt Dew for the X-Men cartoon marathon the night before you and your buddies go to Comicon.

I'd love to go, but could nowhere near afford to. I'd be happy enough to be able to actually get some of the convention exclusives for once!

Actually, he didn't.

He missed his panel and everything. They claimed it was due to "traffic", but a bartender at the hotel next to the theater that was previewing Clerks 2 in Mission Valley told me that he was having so much fun at the theater, hanging out with fans and answering questions that he stayed there the whole rest of the time and just didn't show up to the Comic-Con at all.

I would love to go again one more time (did go in 1996 and 1997), but the lodging is prohibitively expensive these days.

I now live on the corner of 10 and A, so I think this is within walking distance. I kind of outgrew comics a while ago, but my understanding is that there is lots of other cool stuff as well. I think I'll probably go at least one day.

Yes, there are lots of non-comics related stuff going on. I'm not into comics and I go for the entire time and my schedule is full.

A couple years ago, a few of us started an annual ritual. We will pick up our badges around 3ish and walk over to Hooters for appetizers/drinks. Then we'll head back to the Convention Center in time for Preview Night. If anyone wants to join in, let me know.

Now as to meeting up during Con... it's tough to do, due to event scheduling. I'm usually standing in line for an event or attending an event, so my free time is extremely limited. But if someone wants to meet up I'm sure there's a way to work things out. As the time gets closer, and they post the programming grids, we'll see how it pans out.

You can give it a shot and try to organize a meet. I'd say Thur or Sunday are the best days because there's less going on. But then Thursday is starting to have decent programming. One of the better places to meet up would be upstairs in front of one of the rooms near Ballroom 20. A lot less crowded and quieter.

Anywho, those are my thoughts.

BUT...not NEARLY as cool as a beer at Hooters, baby!

Oh, and another strong appeal of the convention; booth babes!

The list has a couple of things that are worth flipping or at the very least will be easy to flip.

That's always a possibility... especially if I have time to run to the house to drop off the day's booty and take a quick shower. We can see what the programming looks like. Of course, the tough part is picking a place to meet. LOTS of places in the Gaslamp Quarter.

If you're going to hit a restaurant in the gaslamp district at the san diego con you can do much better than hooters. Try "Dicks Last Resort" closer to the con. Not only can you fight with your server but you can take a naked girly matchbook on the way out. Or seek out the small italian place right across the street from the Borders bookstore (near the Movie theater). Not only is it good food but you can sit at the "disembodied pope's head" table (round table w/ the pope's head in a tank ala Futurama). I got stuck at the Sinatra table last time.
