good read, thanks for the link Zekeburger

This is very disturbing, but it can happen to you...

Back to the rotating inventory of launch units. You risk getting one of those back until the last one is out of the system. I imagine the next big outrage will be when some of the folks who waited till Falcon to buy a console for reliability reasons, and has to send it in for service, gets a Xenon back! Even when all of the Xenons are gone, you will likely get a newer gen repaired one back rather than new. Unless the fail rate gets so low there are none available. I'm holding my breath...
The article explained (in some degree) how my X360 got RRoD'd... Fortunately, i got the Zephyr instead of the Xenon.

Well, I called on 01/17/08 for my second repair order, and the box arrived yesterday on 01/21/08. Its a little comforting to see that they put an overnight shipping label on it. I'm going to drop it off on my way to work today, so we'll see how quick they get my replacement back to me.

My saving grace is that it only takes a day to get from College Station to McAllen. I just have to wait for them to repair / replace it.

This is the beginning of my trials.
1/3/08 - Console RROD and I called for coffin
1/11/08 - Coffin arrives
1/12/08(Sat) - Shipped coffin to Texas(MS) (WFT MS UPS Ground)
1/17/08 - Arrivals in MCAllen TX

Here's the end run.

1/18-1/19 - Repaired
1/21/08 shipped (Fedex Ground (Damn!!))
1/24/08 Returned to home base

If all goes well I will have been down for 21 days.

During that time I went back to my Xbox and played ESPN NFL2K5, XIII.

I just had a idea cross my mind. How much do you get in trade-in value for a used 360 at Gaqmestop? I think once I get I my 360 back I'm like to trade it for a new model. I really on need a arcade unit since I already have a 120g HD. When I trade in my 360 it will have it's original 20g HD. I don't want to lower the value any.

So I get my unit back today after dealing with Fed Ex Ground for the last two days and now my remote no longer works. I have tried both my logitech and my remote that came with the HD-DVD player. Any ideas? I hate to have it sent in for service again.

Just got my 360 back look and it looks like I got my original box back, but with a upgrade chipset and a new dvd drive. I had to spend a hour resetting my 360 back to all the setting I originally had. This included wireless setting.

It is really a quiet box now I barely hear any noise from this baby. I was of the mind to trade it in at GS for it trade-in value of $180, but I am now having second thoughts since the warranty dones not expire til 2010.

I didn't try out my remote that came with my HD-DVD player. Look under console setting /Remote control.

Well it appears I have my(a) Xbox360 being shipped back to me. I don't recognize the serial number - though, I can't remember it for sure.

They put it back into warranty - for a whole three months.

Check out this post to determine the mfg date of the console from its serial number.

Reading this made me interested in checking on their webpage. It looks like my warranty expires in July of 2008. I think that's about 1 year since my RROD last year.

Thanks, Nosmo.

Edit: Ugh, I hope it's erroneous, because according to that, I'm getting one from Jan '06 which is almost a full year older than my original.

Edit: Now it says I don't have any devices registered. I did some research, and people are saying take whatever the support site says with a grain of salt; the status/serial numbers/etc. will change all the way up to delivery.

Here's hoping I get a brand new one.

Hey guys, my xbox decided I needed to join your fun little club tonight. Just put in the order for my coffin. So is it safe to assume that I won't be receiving my original xbox back and quite possibly get a refurbished older one?

I think it's all by chance; maybe a refurbished one, maybe a new one.

So have the RROD problems been worked out or are they still happening frequently? How reliable are the new "Falcon" machines? Are they susceptible to RROD?

Have the Falcon units been out long enough to know if they'll be as problematic as previous versions?

I think I read the Falcon units are susceptible to the RRoD but just not as frequently.

I received my 360 back from repair/replacement from the RRoD today. Took about three weeks.

My manufacture date is early 2006, but I noticed it has a BenQ drive that was included in late 2006 models.

Oh well, it'll die soon enough.

Mine died today, sucks. They are sending me a box to ship it back in. How long does the entire process usually take?

Nice, is that normal or did they mess up?

Someone didn't follow instructions and sent their HD in. MS apparently didn't care and left in on and sent it to me.

Stupidity squared!
