Scooby Doo, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and these two newly announced titles. Two in December, one in January, two in February, and their schedule really doesn't have much in the way of day/date stuff either.
Didn't you say at one point that Warner was getting orders from higher up the food chain to support Blu-Ray equally? If that's the case, perhaps it's also the reason we're seeing an all-stop from them -- they're being told to hold off on releasing until they can release the Blu-Ray equivalent.

They're absurd; Mr. and Mrs. Smith is listed at $35.99. Thirty-five freakin' dollars and ninety-nine cents! What's more, it probably won't have any extras, if most other Fox titles are an indication. Despite the fact that I eventually gave in, my loyalty is still going to be with HD DVD, primarily because of price. If BD gets things under control, that might change. For now, though, the lack of HD DVD releases don't necessarily bother me.
Wow, they are priced high. March was the month when the really good BD titles start hitting, but at a MSRP of $38.95 and up I suddenly have less interest.

I think its either WB is waiting for BD-J or maybe TotalHD is going to be their focus this year. Well see.

Im scared that WB is going to be a small factor in this war until TotalHD is released.

The bits reported today that they were told by Paramount Home Entertainment's Vice President of Publicity, Brenda Ciccone, that when the Star Trek movies are released they will be released on both formats.

If Warner Bros. is being held back by BD (Sony) because they can't get BD-J to work, then BD is effectively stifling progress and actively preventing consumers from receiving the products that they want. Of course, if that's the case then WB should not go without some shame for allowing themselves to be pushed around.

The TREK films are Paramount and will indeed be released on both. TOS is CBS so at this time only confirmed for HDdvd....

It's doubtful that WB is being pushed around by Sony or any other company. After all, WB just announced TotalHD, which is pretty much a slap in the face to both BD and HD DVD. If WB is holding back on releases until they get BD-J working on their discs, then it's because they as a company want day-and-date dual releases, which makes sense since they'd be able to promote both releases at the same time.

HD-DVD is dying in my house lately. I have only ordered a few discs in the last 2 months. its a shame too but I cannot keep purchasing discs just to keep the format going here(in my house). looking over the upcoming list at highdefdigest.com as an example shows only 3 discs that we want to own from now until the end of April.

Thanks for the link; that's a great article! Very informative, very candid, and none of the arrogant posturing which is so rampant on the other side.

Mine is surviving this drought by my creation of homemade hd-dvds.

I made House of Flying Daggers and Office Space this weekend.

Having met him, Amir is a very eloquent and pleasant fellow.

It's one of the biggest reasons why I've supported HD DVD throughtout this whole fiasco.

Good article.

You supported HD DVD because some Microsoft guy is eloquent and pleasant?

Since you asked, and to explain...

I supported it because of their attitude, the price and what they've delivered.

The attitude present in every single press release from a BD company is a HUGE turn-off. It's unreal and part of the reason why I hate politics. When and if I ever jump the fence, I'm going to have to ignore and forget everything I've heard. Even a few weeks ago, I actually felt guilty about even taking that leap. I'm all about respect, honesty and appearances and BD does not, in any way, shape or form, deliver on that account.

BD is the guy with the huge cock that still has no clue how to use it. And before Namja swipes in, I mean that in comparing the two, BD constantly brags about what they have and what they can do and then they don't do it. In contrast, HD DVD just chugs along and does what it does...and actually delivers on it.

And please don't think that i'm trying to incite a "vs." type thread. I'm just explaining my position.

Despite the obvious lower price in players I would also back up what digitalfreaknyc is saying as a reason many of us skipped over Blu-ray in the beginning. There was just arrogant press release from Sony and the Blu-ray group after arrogant press release. Many of them insulting the intelligence of their potential customers.

Sony has worked pretty hard to drive away many of us from buying into Blu-ray.

Exactly, especially those of us who would potentially spend the kind of money it takes to adopt BD.

They still are...and it's not just Sony.

Pioneer just did an interview insulting the Toshiba.

This format war is turning CE companies/movie studios into children/politicians.

Which bodes well for neither format, especially HD DVD. Warner Bros. is the biggest if not one of the biggest studio out of all of them and if they tone down support for HD, it's going to be very bad. They form roughly 50% of what HD DVD (and 25% of Blu-Ray) has to offer.

Any word yet on Flags of our Fathers? It's getting a DVD release on 2/6/07 but I haven't seen anything regarding HD-DVD or BluRay at all.

Looks like an admin at HTF did an interview with Universal and will be posting it on Friday.

Apparently rumor has it they have a huge list of movies up for release this year.

With actual release dates and everything?? Oh man -- if they don't announce release dates it probably means that HD-DVD is going to collapse tomorrow!!! AAAAAAACCKKK!! The humanity!!!

Fingers crossed.

Granted HD DVD rumors have been pretty unreliable, but you have to think Universal is sitting a some major titles they haven't announced for this year.

This is major league scary. They are the anchor of the HD format on both sides. If it must be TotalHD or nothing from them I hope they get that format on the shelves ASAP and I hope the prices for it are not a $10 or more increase in MSRP.
