Yeah, I thought they looked great on initial looks. If I survive my surgery I'll have lots of time to watch the extended versions. Hell, might even order The Hobbit.

A lot of people were looking at screen grabs and declaring it a horrible transfer and it was full of EE and DNR. They didn't see the UHDs. Those that saw the actual...

IRT the set next summer, some have been saying the Appendices won't be on the set. Of course, there's no confirmation or official word.

Did you order the steelbooks? If you did, hope they are in great condition like mine are. Have seen reports of damaged ones.

Just from spot-checking the discs, looks great. No scratches. I like how the steelbooks are housed to avoid them getting scratched.

It's going to take a while to watch the movies.

Deleted scenes might be interesting one time. I don't find myself pulling out discs to watch deleted scenes after I've already viewed them once. Just not my thing.

I saw wording about playing back Dolby Vision requires the correct tv and player. It's in the small print, so I'm​assuming it has DV.

The previous supplements were pretty comprehensive. Not sure what "new" material would be worth the cost. I just want LOTR in 4k. Not that interested in The Hobbit. Buying now instead of waiting.

Okay, I think I'll go with the steelbooks from Best Buy that are pictured in the OP. They're listed at $120.

As much as I like the slipcase for the giftset, I don't need the ring and the price on...

I'm not sure I liked The Hobbit movies enough to spring for the 4Ks. Of course, once they're released, I'll probably get them anyways.
