You can purchase unlimited ammo for a gun (or anything else for that matter) mid-game.

When you complete the game, this will all be explained, but there are numerous challenges in the game that award you points (e.g. "Complete the game knife-only" or "Kill 50 enemies with a mine")....

After the first playthrough the store opens up and you can unlock unlimited ammo for any weapon that you've fully upgraded. And there are two difficulty levels above Normal.

As for me, I think I'm ready to hang up my hat on this one. I got all the trophies in the main game, all that's left is getting an "S" on every Mercenaries level...but that's...

Finally beat this on "Village of the Shadows" difficulty. It was quite a ride, even on NG+... Even the weakest enemies require two blasts to the face with the grenade launcher to go down, and can...

Hmm..sounds like I will be putting it on "Quality" mode for my initial "story" playthrough, and "performance" for subsequent speedthroughs.
