I have a Philips and I like it alot. I don't know if all Portables do this, but the Philips that I have you can hook it up to a TV with the A/V jacks and the battery life is very good too.

Thanks for all the advice. The Panny DVD Recorder is AWESOME. I still haven't got my surround sound system hooked up. I transfered one of my Eagles concerts from VHS to DVD and it did great.
