Not sure if anyone has brought this yet or not, but I don't think the HD-DVD format will be going away anytime soon. Yes all of the movie studios are backing Blu, but HD-DVD is a more viable solution...

There never was a standard edition. I bought most of the DVD's when they were first sold seperatrly years ago. When they re-released them a few years ago, they were the same disks.
