Re: 15th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge April 1-30, 2024

For those with the Criterion Channel, they've got a collection of Razzie Winners on right now that would qualify.

Also, looks like a great time to dig deeper into Tubi.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I finished up last night with my new Criterion of The Innocents, and it was a great way to end another Challenge. I've done it every year and have reached 100 for 16 of the 19, so I'm happy. Lots...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Happy Halloween, all! If you're looking for a last minute short, or just another theme entry, I can recommend The Life and Death of a Pumpkin.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

One of my huge barriers to finishing the TSZDT list is that movie -- that and my general aversion to Lars von Trier, also remaining on the list for me. So I've let myself off the hook for finishing...

Re: "Warlock" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I can't believe I hadn't seen this one before. It was a good watch for today after the psychological horror of the Zulawski films yesterday. Eerie, inventive, and cheesy all at once, and a great...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Today I watched Possession, the subset pick, which I've seen before, but it's been a while.

Then I watched two earlier Zulawski films: Diabel (1972) and The Third Part of the Night (1971).

My...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Yes, If I have a choice I always go for the higher ranking. Not only is it likely to be better, it may have a longer life on the list.

I've also been watching movies from Letterboxd's Top 250...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I watched it on YouTube a few years ago. I was interested in it because it's the director of Shadow of the Vampire, a movie I love. I will confess I don't remember much about it.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Thanks for this - it's also one of the last remaining on the TSZ for me and I'd been postponing it. Glad to hear it's good.

Thanks for the article. I added Carrie to my watches today in tribute. Always such a powerful movie to revisit.

Re: "Pearl" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

Really not sure what to make of this one. The bright colors were interesting, but in the end, like others, I felt I was waiting for something to happen to tie it all together.. I think I felt the...

Re: "Libido" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

Eerie and atmospheric, and obviously on a tight budget. I chose this one unseen for the reviews and for the debut of Giancarlo Giannini. It shows its age a bit, but I found it quick and...

Re: "Final Destination 2" Reviews/Discussion - 2023 Horror Challenge

I hadn't seen Final Destination 2 and enjoyed it; it does a nice job of building characters amid the destruction, and all the payoffs work.. I went on to watch The Final Destination, to finish out...

I'm finishing up the Criterion/Arthouse Challenge, so it's Peeping Tom, probably followed by Don't Look Now.
