Re: 17th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge April 1-30 (May 1), 2026

Thanks for another good challenge! I didn't make my goal but saw a lot of new things, and I appreciate everyone's comments along the way.

Re: 17th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge April 1-30 (May 1), 2026

Last night I watched Who Killed Teddy Bear? from 1965. It has a notable cast: Juliet Prowse, Sal Mineo, Elaine Stritch, and more. It's definitely a guilty pleasure: lurid and full of sex and...

Re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Female Trouble is my favorite Waters, but Desperate Living is right up there.

Re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I loved it, but it probably isn’t for everyone.

For this group of releases, definitely Body Heat and Sentimental Value for me.

I'll get Network, for sure. Possibly The Man Who Wasn't There.

Re: The 15th Annual November Comedy Challenge *Discussion Thread* Nov 1-30, 2025

The In-Laws came to mind first. Going back a bit, Bringing Up Baby and His Girl Friday.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Unrelated question about this site overall. On those few occasions when I look at the front page, the listings are ~4 years old. Often I'll come to check on a review for even an old disc and find...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Agreed completely (except for the Xbox). My box of purchases from the recent Criterion Flash sale--none of them horror--arrived two days ago, so I'm eager to watch those soon. And not feel the...

Re: The 15th Annual November Comedy Challenge *List Thread* Nov 1-30, 2025

My first time on this one. We could all use some laughs these days.

November 1:
1. Bubba Ho-Tep (2003)
2. Death of a Unicorn (2025)
3. Burn After Reading (2008)
November 2:
4. Dr Strangelove,...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Halloween for me was the usual busy traffic throughout the neighborhood. I always worry I will run out of candy but after it was done, I found an extra bag to take to work on Monday. If it lasts...

Re: "Death of a Unicorn" Reviews/Discussion - 2025 Horror Challenge

Like others, I was surprised to see this classified as a comedy, and in the end it tried to do too many things. Everyone in the cast has done better work elsewhere and the CGI was a bit overdone. The...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I made it through the Exorcist original trilogy yesterday. The Exorcist is absolutely one of my favorite horror classics, but I always forget just how terrible Exorcist II is. It's got a great cast...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Each Challenge I find at the end I'm revisiting the classics and old favorites, so it's the original Exorcist trilogy for me today. And we'll see what happens after that.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm watching Altered States with the commentary, which is great. But, question for the group: Horror? Tech Terror? Wildcard?

Re: "Felidae" Reviews/Discussion - 2025 Horror Challenge

I had high hopes as a cat lover, but like several people here, this left me cold. Great potential, but in the end I lost interest.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I watched it this morning so thanks for the reminder! It was my 100th entry of the month so that seemed a perfect time.

Re: "Weapons" Reviews/Discussion - 2025 Horror Challenge

I saw Weapons in the theatre and loved it. It's isn't perfect, but it was perfect for me. It was great to revisit it last night, particularly knowing what was coming. I still remember the chill I got...
