Didn’t we have a weekly horror club once? Years and years ago iirc. Maybe even sponsored by dvdtalk?

Is the deadline for finalizing your list still the 7th? I binged so much in the last couple of days, I'm struggling to catch my reviews up.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
Unrelated question about this site overall. On those few occasions when I look at the front page, the listings are ~4 years old. Often I'll come to check on a review for even an old disc and find nothing listed.
Are the forums the only place with activity anymore? I've wondered this for a while so thought I'd ask.
Thanks again to everyone for making the Challenge the best place to be in October. See you next year for #22.

DVDTalk was blacklisted by studios so they haven't done any reviews in a couple of years. Back in 2009 when Big Lots had the $3 Warner DVD bonanza and there were multi-page threads about DeepDiscount 20% sales, this site was hopping, but those days are long gone. DVDTalk is dead; the only activity here are the movie challenges.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 21st Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
Yeah, sadly the decline of DVDTalk has been steady for several years now. Losing the reviews and having a name from a media format 2 technological generations ago doesn't help. But I notice many dedicated online forums are struggling with the same thing. It's all Facebook/Instagram/TikTok social media now. Reddit seems to still be going strong, but it's so big I feel lost there. While I have an account I just lurk there but I may have to bite the bullet and get involved if I want discussion. I hate that it doesn't let you rename yourself (you have to create a brand new account) since I just have the auto-generated name.
Anyway, back to the challenge
My list is done, with reviews all updated. From my last day of viewing, here's a classic horror trivia question: what's the only movie to have Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi AND Peter Lorre? There were many with Karloff and Lugosi and Lorre did a few with Karloff (I don't remember if he did any with Lugosi). But only 1 had all three, and someone it was a horror movie I never saw until now.

List complete

This was a year marked by period pieces and micro-budget miracles. I mostly didn't drink this year which may have had a slight detrimental effect to overall enjoyment.
This is the second year in a row with 100% first time views and I think I may loosen up on that goal going forward as I turned down a few items my daughter wanted to watch this year in an effort to hit this metric. This was my 16th year of participation and my 16th year hitting the coveted 100+ mark.
The 101 entries watched were in 9 languages, hit every theme night & spanned 92 years of cinematic efforts with titles from 1933 up to 2025.

Thank you Toddarino. Thats amazing.
For those asking, or looking for a horror challenge through out the year. A bunch of us are on letterboxd, and I have a challenge I run over there. I believe I lined up the month of October to more or less line up with next year's challenge.

WillieMLF bringing up the rear....
Just finalized the list, and didn't even look at the checklist this year. Ended up with 106 for the month, and it went rather smoothly for watching almost 3.3 movies a day for 32 days. Surprisingly, I'm not really phased by that, and I'm continuing into November. My wife has decided to give up Disney/Hulu by the end of November, so I'm binging The Bear as a last hurrah.
Peace out everyone! Until next year hopefully!

I had an impromptu kayaking excursion that kept me from doing the wrap up earlier, but, as it turns out, 11/13 was the same day I did it last year, so...
Congratulations to Surfinhank for winning the ‘Best List’ award for the ??????? time!
Just wanted to give one final thanks to *everyone* for participating in our 21st event!
A special thanks to our official prize provider/distributor - Rich Hamilton (GoldenWheels) of Hamilton Book, and on 16 challenges of pure excellence! Support Hamiltonbook.com!
Additionally, a huge thanks to alyxstarr as well as everyone who helped in the pre-challenge preparation! That especially holds true this year.

Though in the 30s and 40s that was probably more a selling point than a problem.
