Re: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024, D: Levy) - S: Reynolds, Jackman

If they had kept the F bombs for them saying LFG at the end - that would've been much better as an exclamation point.(the way profanity should be used imo) The lines leading up to that weren't made...

Re: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024, D: Levy) - S: Reynolds, Jackman

Great 2nd teaser, I'm definitely feeling the hype now! It's so hard to tell what is strictly online vs general public, but I'm convinced this is the biggest film of the summer, if not the year. And...

Re: Transformers One - animated prequel (2024, D: Cooley)

Well that certainly isn't what I was hoping for, which was something comparable to the Spider-verse films. If my nephew wants to see it I'll take him, otherwise I'll pass.

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Having seen this three times in Imax now, this has risen to my film to beat this year. Still working on the book, but I still don't understand how Paul survived what looked like a pretty fatal stab...

Re: Gladiator II (2024, D: Scott) S: Mescal, Washington, Pascal

No trailer, sorry for any disappointment in the thread update. Paramount's presentation today did reveal some new details:
-Gladiator 2 is the current title
-Pescal is not playing Lucius Verus...

Re: Joker: Folie à Deux (2024, D: Phillips) S: Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga

Truthfully I never would've not been on board, they essentially have a free pass to do whatever they want. But it's a nice trailer, look and tone looks like more of what I wanted.

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan) -- The Reviews Thread

Just got back (last day on the Dolby screen) overall pretty similar feeling as the last one - nothing particularly great, but I had fun and am glad they made it. They could leave it here, but I'm...

Re: Movie Theaters

Last year at my AMC most of the films I saw on premium screens only had 20+ minutes before the show - I was pleasantly surprised and assumed it was either a change in policy or a reduction due to the...

Re: Star Wars: The Acolyte (Disney+) -- news, rumors, etc.

That's interesting, I'm thinking more of the way it's shot.. I see the same mid tones with no real contrast or depth in the compositions of the frames. It's that filtered look that I imagine is used...

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)

While this is almost certainly not going to have the artistry of Scott's films, I do hope it has some of the atmosphere and suspense. I'm also not too big on a ton of gore in my Alien films, so this...

Re: Star Wars: The Acolyte (Disney+) -- news, rumors, etc.

I admittedly am going in pretty skeptical (how could you not with anything Star Wars) and this really only heightened my concerns. Overall I'd say it definitely looks like an average Disney+...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Caught this on a weeknight on IMAX. Like others have said, a solid 4/5 but let's pump the brakes on the masterpiece talk. It's an impressive achievement and should receive a lot of technical awards...

Re: The 96th Academy Awards --> 2024 Oscar Awards Show Discussion

re: Gladiator II (2024, D: Scott) S: Mescal, Washington, Pascal

The article admits that Paramount's 250m might indeed be accurate.(which it probably is after incentives, etc) It's not hard to imagine the film was greenlit around 200milliion with the strike...

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

TFA ending the way it did certainly did no favors for TLJ. Ideally, TFA would've ended with Rey and Luke actually having a short dialogue scene together - the equivalent of the "I want to learn the...

Re: Reacher (Amazon) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 12/15/23

I'm really struggling to finish this season (three more episodes to go) I think because S1 was so stripped down and simple the limitations were kept to a minimum. It was essentially like a network...

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Both prequel and sequel trilogies suffered from this. When you've got roughly seven hours of time to tell your story, what you spend that time is critically important. Spending an act finding parts...

re: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024, D: Levy) - S: Reynolds, Jackman

I suspect they'll have some fun with the title along the way.(changes, etc) The entire marketing for this should be a homerun really, excited to see what they come out of the gate with!

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

I do wish the re-releases were on a premium screen, even for just a week. (the per theater average would probably be pretty good, better than most) And of course I can't wait to get the Matt...

re: Gladiator II (2024, D: Scott) S: Mescal, Washington, Pascal

As much as I'd love to see something, it really doesn't make sense with its Nov release. But the Kid Rock promo for the first was perfection!

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan)

I still think it looks fun! Nice to see a second movie with the old/new cast, I'm sure part of the Afterlife pitch was the potential for additional sequels and I'm glad they were able to keep going....

Not expecting a sweep, but hopefully plenty of Oppenheimer wins (maybe 6ish?)

Will aim to check out some of the other heavy hitters, but I've never...

re: Jurassic World 4 (2025)

I've always felt the obvious route to go with another potential trilogy was the world overrun decades later. Just start it like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - news footage and text explaining it. ...

Re: Maestro (2023, D: Bradley Cooper) -- Leonard Bernstein biopic -- S: Cooper, Mulligan -- Netflix

What an incredibly odd movie, most of my thoughts have already been said. Probably a good rule of thumb for biopics is to stick primarily to what that person is known for, rather than using it as a...

re: The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026, D: Favreau)

Given the alternatives this is probably a good bet. Mando, while not perfect has been one of the few bright spots and a movie might catch on with the general public. That said, this should be...
