What can I say. I was a nerd growing up. We had this book of Presidents (it only went up to LBJ) and I was fascinated with the subject. I probably flipped through that book hundreds of times when I was 5 or 6 and it just stuck in there.

Damnit, the Dallas Stars should count... as should the Yankees. The rest of the questionable answers shouldn't.
When they sing the national anthem everybody sings the line as "Oh say does that Stars Spangled banner yet wave." That sure as hell evokes patriotism in me. The question was what sports team evokes American patriotic symbols, not what sports team is named after a patriotic symbol. Stars are friggin' patriotic symbols. Who gives a shit where those stars came from?!
Also, CRM if I had thought of the Patriots I would have gone with them. All I could think of for obvious answers was the Eagles and the Senators and I wasn't sure if either of those were obvious enough.

If it makes you feel better, if the USFL counted, the Philadelphia or Baltimore Stars would have been okay.

I had to memorize all the presidents and parties back in AP Govt days. I knew all the Presidents from the animaniacs song...but that wasn't 42 seconds long

It worked! All I was trying to do was do a lively debate without all of you comparing your fucking notes and ruining the surprises of the game. Let's continue.

San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, CA MSA (5): feenst
Raleigh-Cary, NC MSA (5): Nick Danger
Neither of these have over 2MM, let alone 3MM. Raleigh is actually very small. Birmingham, AL has more people.
