Rage Against the Machine to (eventually) reunite
The Renegades of Funk have returned: Rage Against the Machine will reunite in 2020 for a series of concerts and a headlining performance at Coachella.
Next spring, Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commferford will take the stage for the first time since 2011. The staunchly political rock band will initially play a trio of shows in cities along or near the Mexican border, including El Paso, Texas; Las Cruses, New Mexico; and Phoenix, Arizona. They’ll then head to Indio, California to headline the 2020 installment of Coachella in April.
The reunion shows were announced Friday morning via an unverified Instagram account attributed to the band. Industry sources have confirmed to Consequence of Sound that the posting is accurate, and that the band is planning to play more shows beyond these initial dates.
This is a developing story…

03/28 – Las Cruces, NM

These guys are close to the top of my unseen bands list, so I hope they do more shows around the country.

Yeah, that was their first "break-up."
These days, it seems like bands don't so much break-up as they go on extended hiatuses or hibernation periods. I think RATM was active four or five years ago, no?
When I was younger, bands would release an album, tour, work on a new album, release new album, tour, work on another new album, release another new album, tour,.... repeat until they break up.
Now album releases are rare, bands take a lot of time between albums if they even release them, go on shorter tours, take extended periods of time off, maybe their only show during a year is a big festival. It seems like bands don't formally break-up anymore, they just sort of drift apart, then get back together a new tour when they're running low on money.

I saw Rage live 3 times including their final shows at the Grand Olympic in L.A.. I also saw Audioslave a couple of times. I never did get to see Prophets, though. Hopefully Rage do some solo shows at non-festivals. I don't like festival shows and I am not going to Coachella.

Meh, if there's no new album works then I don't care. They've performed a few shows together since their final album, this isn't the first time they've done this.

I agree, especially in the current political climate, they should be creating new material and not just performing old stuff.
And I'm not even a huge fan of theirs.

I loved Rage growing up; trying to revisit anything post the debut album is painful; it's all horribly dated and a massive product of its political time.

I always liked Hammond's Ted Koppel impression, and the skit is just awesomely silly.

I really, really, really, freaking hate the ticket buying process and waiting room queues.
Edit: They added a third show at MSG. I kind of figured they would, so I was watching for it to get put on TM. When they did, I was right in the top of the queue and was able to get awesome seats.

Tried for both KC and StL. I was able to get 2 decent seated tix for KC after releasing the initial 4 seat nose-bleeds. KC is during the week and wasn't my first choice but I was still in queue for Stl. Hedged my bets given the no resale/transfer rule and pricing. I just got the 2 for KC and I'm glad I did....all that was left in Stl was nosebleed and it was selling quickly.

re: Rage Against the Machine to (eventually) reunite
I originally was going to go to the show on my own but had a few friends who were adamant on us going together.
I double-checked with them to see if they were free at 11AM (PST) to get tickets, as that is an hour I'm free from teaching classes, so I would be able to hop on. They assured me it was no problem.
Well, it ended up being a problem because the person who was supposed to get tickets didn't sign online until 4+ hours after BOTH on-sales. So annoyed.
Decided to pay above face value (on Stubhub) as I've been waiting for this opportunity for more than half my life. Ironically enough, I'm probably still going alone

re: Rage Against the Machine to (eventually) reunite
The prices for this connected with the whole “ethos” of the band is a joke. I rarely call bands phony sellouts but I will in this instance.
