^ Nice deal. Looks to be limited to car+app subscriptions. I'm app only and couldn't get it to work.

Yeah it is a good deal but only works on inactive radios that receive the email (the fine print).

I had an email-only deal that offered $4/month and a $25 prepaid CC after 2 month of service, cancel anytime. They look kind of desperate.

Not being a smartass but has there ever been a time when they haven't seemed desperate since they started the business? Hell, they seemed desperate back in the days when they were two different companies.

I like the service but after adapting Spotify to meet my XM needs after their disastrous app update, I find I am totally good without them now. And I have been a long-time subscriber since back when they were two different companies.

I miss "IT" from the old XM days when "IT" would take over all the pop channels and play every damn popular pop/rock/R&B song from the 1950's to the current time. I can't imagine the undertaking that programming took to do at the time.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

I haven't paid full price on my yearly renewal for as long as I can remember. I just call the day before my subscription expires, tell them to cancel, and I get a new deal. It seems they'd rather have some money than none.

Hopefully NY going after them for their cancellation procedures doesn't screw that up.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

They are probably at the point where every marginal dollar is highly profitable. The royalty fee is added as a percentage of the base rate and covers the part that goes to artists and record companies. The fixed costs don’t scale with more subscribers on the car front. It’s not like they have to launch more satellites. It’s the same whether they have 1000 subs or 100,000. So if someone signs up for $3 that’s probably mostly profit.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

Question for fellow Stern listeners. Is is safe to update the app? I haven't updated in forever because of how bad I heard the app was in one particular update way back, but I am having all kinds of problems with it now. If I pause a show, when I go to start listening again it backs me up to some random point earlier in the show. And sometimes after listening for like 5 minutes, the sound will just cut out and I have to close the app and restart. Thinking I will have to bite the bullet and update. Has it gotten better?

Same here - they had a few patch releases since the rollout of the new app. It's much better now.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

I just got an offer for 3 months for $1. You have to be careful to cancel or you get billed regular rates after the 3 months. It's on their home page.

A virtual credit card would be good for this deal.

I got an email today that said my Sirius XM subscription was going up an extra $2 per month. Anyone else get one?

Call them and ask for the three years for $99. That's 2/3 the cost of the increase alone.

I currently have the $9.99 per month Advantage plan.

Is this the All Access plan?

I don't know the name. It's everything for the car and the app except Stern. Well I think it's without Stern. I've never had that so I haven't checked since I signed up for this promo a few months ago.

EDIT: Just checked my account and it's "XM Music and Entertainment"
https://www.siriusxm.com/channels?up...=1_SIR_AUD_EVT

Looks like it's everything even Stern (who knew). That's what's in the All Access too.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

I reached out to them on the 3-year $99 deal a while back, and was told I wasn't eligible.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

Try again. I think Oldboy was given a rate not as low but still a really good deal.It did take me years to finally get the $99 deal but they use to give me the same programming for $4-5 a month since I've day the radio (2012). Their retentions has always been willing to play ball if you push them.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

Yeah I haven't gotten 3 years for 99 but last time I tried (online via chat, I believe speaking to a bot, not a human), I got it down to 4.28 all in (including fees and taxes) for All Access. I'm fine with that. It says it's a 12 month promo, so in 12 months, I'll do it again. Before that I was at 7.49/month all in. If you're paying anything more than 8 bucks a month, it's definitely worth going through the cancel process to get a better price.

At the top of my account screen is a big warning "Beginning 2/24 our standard rates will increase". I think I got an email about it too.

They have altogether too many plan options.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

I just called Sirius and that 3 year offer is not available for current subscribers.

I was able to get them to not institute the price increase, so my rate stays the same at $9.99 per month,

If you get bored try again at least for the $5 month play. I was a current subscriber and got the three year plan. Even before that I would reject the first two offers every time my rate would go up and they would improve it.

Just checked... My rate is $4.93 but after taxes it's $6.60/month.

In July I get to hop on the chat for about 10 minutes to "cancel" and then accept their second or third offer (never the first!). Even better, actually cancel and wait for the "we want you back" email with a low offer.

Re: Sirius XM streaming

Anytime they try to go up on my bill, I threaten to cancel and they always give me a better deal than I was on before.
