Re: The Weeknd

I forget Star Boy came out in 2016 though it seems kind of early for a new album when he could have had more hit singles with Star Boy.

I didn't think his 2016 album was good at all. Liked a few of the singles, but the rest was totally forgettable compared to the previous album. I think I liked the two Daft Punk collabos and Secrets, and that's about it.

I'm hoping for a much better record, I believe it's an EP, here.

Re: The Weeknd

This new 6 song album is what I like from him.

As long as he continues with songs like this he will be around for a while.

Re: The Weeknd

This was the first song that came on this morning, "I want to fuck you slow with the lights on" caught me off guard, strong opening statement there

Re: The Weeknd

He dropped a new album 'After Hours" last week and he had that cameo in Uncut Gems though that was shot before he blew up.

Re: The Weeknd

Looks like he got some bad plastic surgery (prosthetics) and a Selena Gomez doppelganger in his latest video?

Re: The Weeknd

This guy has some really good music, but his theatrics have grown tired and stupid. First the bandages and now unrecognizable face. He is also quite the diva. This is from the Graham Norton Show from five years ago. Graham's musical guests at the end of the show have always joined everyone on the couch after their performance for a short interview/conversation. But oh no, not the Weeknd. Graham told the audience and other guests "The Weeknd only communicates through the power of song. He doesn't chat. So he's not coming over". What a knob. You can catch this exact moment at the 41 minute mark of this link.

Re: The Weeknd

Who cares if he doesn't want to schmooze? He's a musician and a heck of a performer. He doesn't have to chat if he just wants the music to speak for itself, he's not like an actor trying to explain to the audience why they should go to his movie or watch his show. The musical performance sells the album.
And Uncut Gems showed that he has a nice self-deprecating sense of humor as well.

I realize that he doesn't have to chat. Like I mentioned, all of the musical guest have joined others on that couch after performing on that show. And they aren't there long. They go over, briefly discuss the album, tours, etc. Sometimes Graham or even one of the other guests might ask a question. That's the format.

I wouldn't call him a knob because nobody is getting turned on by that face.

Re: The Weeknd

LOL maybe he is trying to be like one of his idols Prince who does not talk a lot either.

I don't remember seeing him on Fallon or any talk show.

I wonder who does all the synth beats for the Weeknd?

That guy is a musical genius too.

Can't wait for his Super Bowl performance and would not mind if the majority of the playlist came from After Hours.

Re: The Weeknd

It was some prosthetics for a video. Weird looking.
