For whatever reason, Guns & Roses without Izzy just doesn't feel right. Once he bailed, it just seems like the magic went away and they started falling apart.

Yep. After he left, eight years went by until any new original "Guns N' Roses" material was released in the form of the one song on the End of Days soundtrack, and then another nine years went by before Chinese Democracy was released. I don't think anyone realized at the time how important he was in the grand scheme of things. I know I sure didn't, and I ate/slept/breathed GN'R back then. All the attention went to Axl and Slash.

He doesn't need the money and he doesn't want to tour. Why won't he just show up for one show just because it would be cool to do? He doesn't even have to play a full set.

Cool for people to see. But not necessarily cool for him to do. Maybe he really just doesn't care.

Appetite for Destruction, Lies, and Use Your Illusion I and II.
I remember Adler saying that his success with GnR has him set for life financially. Izzy is probably even better off sine he lasted longer.

Why do humiliating shows like Sober House if he is set for life?

Adler got 2.5 million in his settlement, plus 15% of all royalties from any album or release he is on I believe. Since Appettite still sells quite a bit as a catalog release, that is a decent amount coming in.
I know he is a huge addict, but i don't think he lives extravagantly when he is sober so he is probably doing alright.
I imagine Izzy gets even more in royalties as he is also on the Use Your Illusion albums plus is credited with many more songs.

Just got back from the show in Houston. Really great time. The piano broke and Axl handled it well. He seemed much cooler to the crowd and band mates then when I saw him last in 92.

Been watching a lot of clips from their recent shows & don't understand how Axl's voice made such a drastic change since the reunion. He also looks a lot better. Not just his weight but he's toned down the glitzy/glamlike look

Izzy posted on twitter in response to that interview that the only reason he isnt part of the reunion is because they weren't will to split the money with him equally.

Are they gonna have a nice, special edition package, both CD & vinyl, for Appetite's 30th anniversary next year?

Sounds terrible, wouldn't buy it. There is way better AFD era stuff (like demos for November Rain and YCBM) out there.

I would hope it would include some live material from that era without any overdubs like the Live Era Set. Even a remastered version of the Ritz show would be ok. But they do have several shows recorded from the soundboard they could use. I don't care about the demos or anything like that, i already have all of them and they aren't really that interesting other than as a 1 time listen.

First, let me make a disclaimer and say I'm a GnR fan but not a big fan.
However, I will go out on a limb and say this....the band got very lucky being that transitional group that hit in between the mid-late 80s hair metal and grunge. They were a bit of both.
They started the demise of hair metal and helped bring around the love of grunge. Good or bad, neither the party anthem music or the "I want to kill myself" music lasted, but they did. Somehow, nestled between those two music genres they have survived. Good for them. I would like to see them release some new stuff with original members.
