Re: Metric
Saw them for a third time last night opening for the Pumpkins. God damn did Emily look hot. A bikini top under a hoodie. Can't believe she is mid-40s.
I always find it weird seeing mid-tier headlining bands open for others. There was barely anybody there.

Re: Metric
Supposedly they started shipping out the Dreams So Real stuff from PledgeMusic on July 23rd.
I'm seeing pictures and other notes from people on PledgeMusic, Twitter, etc. who've gotten their Blu-rays and all, but alas, nothing's shown up here yet.

Re: Metric
I saw Metric open up for Imagine Dragons in Boise a couple of years ago and Halsey opened up first. Hardly anyone was there for Halsey and it filled up a bit for Metric, but now Halsey's huge as are Imagine Dragons, but Metric is still "indie." I like Metric more than both the others. I'd only gone to show cuz the chick I was dating was a big ID fan. I became a Halsey fan after that, though. I love Metric more, though.

Re: Metric
Oh, hey, look what finally showed up!
Not only is there no Atmos, but it's Dolby Digital 5.1 on Blu-ray rather than something lossless.
Edit! Now that I've done a full scan of the disc, yup. DVD quality audio on Blu-ray. You have your choice of Dolby Digital 5.1 (448kbps) or stereo (192kbps). That's a drag.

Now that is a pisser. I never got the 4K files downloaded correctly. I'm curious to know if that sound will be any better. But if the blu is standard 5.1, I doubt they fully loaded the 4K version.

Re: Metric
Saw them open for the Pumpkins last night - Always a great show from Metric, good energy and did mostly new songs, which was a bold choice (I think 5/8 tracks played were from the new record or something close to that. I loved it but a lot of people seemed to be bored). That being said, they all sounded great, new album going to be really good.

Guys, it’s true. No lie. We’re doing it. So much love and attention has been poured into the making of this album and our preparations for the Doomscroller Tour, I’m beyond thrilled to have a chance to make myself useful and help get you dancing your ass off. The moment has finally arrived where we can start sharing our work with you and I’m so pumped I really don’t even know where to begin…
Ok how about I start with our new album. It’s called Formentera and it comes out July 8, 2022. I’ve been writing down everything about the making of the album, trying to put into words an explanation of why Formentera is the title because I know you’re going to ask me. So here goes…
Even real places become imaginary when they are so far out of reach. Named for an idyllic island near Ibiza off the coast of Spain, Formentera is a place that, at least for us, only existed on a page in a “dream destinations” travel book that lay open on a desk in the new recording studio that Jimmy built in 2020, in a rural hamlet north of Toronto. This is the setting where our eighth (!) album took shape.
We came to this realization that it wasn’t even about an actual place anymore, it was about creating an escape for yourself in your mind because you’re powerless over so many things.
Now let’s talk about the first single, “All Comes Crashing.” You can hear it right now on all platforms. I like to refer to this song as an end-of-days banger. It’s a love song, but not one that is limited to romantic love because not everyone has conventional lives or conventional relationships. It’s more an expression of solidarity with whoever it is you would want to have beside you in the event of catastrophe. It’s dedicated to those you consider your family, whatever that looks like for you. And I think we all discovered exactly who that was over the past couple years.
The official video for “All Comes Crashing” was directed by visual artist/photographer Justin Broadbent. He did the artwork and videos for Synthetica and Art of Doubt, and he took the photo above too. I just absolutely love working with this guy, we have an almost spooky psychic connection that runs through all our collabs. You can check it out now on YouTube.
We are also going on tour!
We’ve already started production rehearsals, building our set list based on fan favorites including deep cuts from Live It Out and Old World and finding where the new songs from Formentera flow with the classics from Fantasies and Synthetica. I want everybody in the room to have the best concert experience possible and feel like they got to escape into another reality with us for the evening. Seriously cannot wait to get this show on the road.
As we have done on many previous tours, we have once again partnered with our friends at PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting War Child and their work to empower children and families in communities affected by war throughout the world.
Here’s how to get your tickets:
Pre-sale starts Tuesday, May 3 at 10AM local at ilovemetric.com.
Code: DOOMSCROLLER
General on sale is Friday, May 6 at 10AM local.
Lots more to come! Escape to Formentera with us...

Weird how the album is only a couple months away, and there's no way to pre-order it.
Is it going to be only digital/streaming on 7/08, with physical months and month later?

Big fan of Metric over the years. 2018's album was stellar. One of the best of that year.
Emily and Co. rarely disappoint. Looking forward to July.

Re: Metric
It seems like the windows in general between announcement and release for albums have been slashed to a couple of months, though it does seem unusual to announce an album without being able to preorder (or at least announcing when preorders will be available). Metric are pretty vinyl-obsessed, so it's hard to imagine that not being an option unless they just weren't able to line up a press in time.

Head and Heart just released their album to streaming today, with no pre-order available back when they announced the album, but pre-orders were made available today on release day, for a vinyl release of freaking November! That's how bad things are backed up!

Re: Metric
Vinyl production has backed up so bad, that I'm sure the physical (at least the vinyl version) is a long ways off.

I pre-ordered Banks' Serpentina album, which came out 2 weeks ago and the vinyl isn't released until July. I guess it's a 3-month delay at minimum for some releases.
