RIP

Love his music. I remember seeing him sing for the first time wondering if he had a disease that enabled him to twitch and such.

Saw him back in 2009. Always have an album or two of his work on my iPod. Love the guy. RIP

This probably isn't a good place to admit that my first experience with him was "Up Where We Belong" in An Officer and a Gentleman. Only later did I hear his other stuff.

Re: RIP Joe Cocker (1944 - 2014)

Frankly, I was shocked to hear that he was still alive and was only 70 when he died.

I first heard of him when I was in Junior High back in the mid 70's and at the time I thought the guy was 50 or so based on the way he looked and sounded on stage. The "paraplegic" style (for lack of a better word) he adopted when performing didn't help much to dispell my mistaken belief that he was not a young man. Imagine me surprise to learn that not only was he still alive, but that he was only 18 years older than me.

Joe you will be missed. I remember one day after a rough day at work driving home and listening to a classic rock station and Feeling Alright came on. Instant pick up. Thanks Joe. Also have always cherished your performance at Woodstock.

Re: RIP Joe Cocker (1944 - 2014)

Sad to see a one of a kind legend pass away. Has 2014 been an unusually awful year for musician deaths? I found this site today, and the list just goes on and on. Scary thing is a lot of them died fairly young.

I saw him in Memphis in 2009, and he was as powerful as ever. His version of "The Letter" still gives me chills.
