The VINYL Thread!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
The UK release of the album comes with the CD and a 7". I'm a little bummed about the US not getting the 7" but silver vinyl is pretty awesome.
And for those Drive fans out there, apparently there is a version (same one as pictured above?) that's coming out on Record Store Day.

I don't know if you guys listen to Stern that much, but he has been goofing on Gary a lot about vinyl lately, and it is hilarious, though I do think he is out of touch about the terminology.

^ That was pretty funny and Gary did deserve to get goofed on. "Pieces of vinyl" sounds lame, but then again, just the way Gary says it annoys me. FA FA FOOEY!
That Ronnie Bloc Party stuff was funny, too.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Got two copies of the blood splattered Django Unchained vinyl in today. Already had a black uk copy. Not sure if I am keeping or trading. It's a weird soundtrack. Kinda works on cd and mp3 because its all needle drops from QTs personal collection supposedly. Feels weird to me recorded that way to another record.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I finally picked up Verve's Urban Hymns on vinyl - the semi-recent repressing, not the original. I've had Storm in Heaven and Northern Soul for quite a while, so it was about time.
I also grabbed R.E.M.'s Accelerate. The CD is mastered pretty horribly, so I assume two 45rpm LPs will be a vast improvement.
That mobile record store is pretty crazy and awesome.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Quick question for the vinyl enthusiasts on here - do you guys ever buy more than one copy with the assumption that it'll be a rarity some day? Like, do you guys buy one to listen to and put the other one way for future selling/trading? I'm curious. I ran into a couple of so-so rare items and was almost going to pick them up just to put away. I already have a copy to listen to of each, but was gonna get a 2nd copy of each just to have in case their value skyrocketed.

Shit, I just had to grab my ankles this morning in acquiring this long OOP print vinyl disc:

I'd rather not say how much I paid for it since the item has technically not shipped yet. *knocks on wood*

This was taken from a thread that [email protected] started. Why So Blu? directed viewers from that thread to this one.
The only thing I'm planning on picking up at this point are the Husker Du and Public Image Ltd. reissue 7"'s. I do usually end up buying more than I planned on every year though.

It turns out it is noticeably better. It's obviously still very compressed, but it doesn't sound anywhere near as loud.
I wish I'd never seen that Amazon has decent pricing on some vinyl. I also picked up Ride's Nowhere, Jeff Buckley's Grace and a few others.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I wouldn't mind picking up that No Alternative release on vinyl. I bought the CD day one when it came out and still listening to it often.
