^ Man I want one of those. Just curious, how much did you pay and where'd you get it?
There's also another version of this soundtrack coming out on Record Store Day. Not sure what the deal with that one is. I think the version that's coming out on RSD will not be the Tyler Stout cover one - it'll have a live action portrait or still from the film. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
^ That's a pretty good price.
I looked at the RSD website and apparently it's the first US release of the album on vinyl and it's a picturedisc that's designed by Stout. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
The next Mondo release is the Oblivion soundtrack. Guess I will get it. Honestly been more into the records than the posters lately. Traded for a Maniac since I didn't get that one originally.

I went barebones and straight-up analog without the USB option and it's Phono compatible.
It's the basic Audio Technica turntable It's a pretty cool little machine and at that price you could buy one every year and it would still be worth it. IMO. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Why So Blu?, since you like the Drive soundtrack you should check out the album Night Drive by the Chromatics. The track "Tick of the Clock" appears in an edited form on the Drive soundtrack. It's a pretty good synth-pop album that features a great cover of "Running up that Hill" by Kate Bush.

I remember trying to look up some of those bands from the soundtrack around the time the film came out but lost track down the line. Thanks for reminding me. I love synth-pop, new wave, dance, etc., and more the same would be awesome. Good looking out! |

Thanks for the recommendation, just got this over the weekend, it looks nice and sounds great. My only complaint is that the audio cable is short as hell. It's like a foot and a half. I'll need to purchase an extension.

I will also be checking that label out. Thanks!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Bummed that the UK is getting a repress of the Scientists first album on record store day and the US isn't.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
No idea who that is but the cover is real good. :)
I picked up this Stiv Bators LP. We used to listen to this ALL the time back in the day. http://www.recordsbymail.com/uploads...LPs/445226.JPG |
Re: The VINYL Thread!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
The latest Black Rebel Motorcycle Club finally arrived in the mail today. I've been having a lot of trouble lately when ordering records from Amazon.UK. Seems there's always shipping delays. Anyway, the album's fantastic (I've been listening to it on Spotify since it was released...)

Cool. On that label you and Why So Blu? should check out Glass Candy's B/E/A/T/B/O/X LP. Refn used their song "Digital Versicolor" a few times in Bronson.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
The Scandinavian release of Ghost's latest album Infestissumam on clear vinyl arrived today. They really knocked it out of the park with regards to the packaging and artwork. I was also able to score the 7" for their single "Year Zero" on clear green vinyl which arrived today as well. I think I filled the cup.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Got a classic in da house!
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...ps8cb22159.jpg Also a bonus that it's a 180 gram remaster. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
An actual remaster or just a new edition of the existing master?

??? I'll check when I get home. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I guess they're mastered from the original analog tapes?

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Ah, yeah, so not a remaster. Still, probably sounds better than the CD (although the regular issue Tom Waits CDs all sound pretty good).

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I screwed up and bought ticket for Oblivion tomorrow morning at 10am, so I will be a couple of hours late to RSD. :/
Here's hoping there will be stuff left for me at noon. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I'm not going to make it out for RSD, but I'm a huge Pulp fan, so I had a friend pick this up for me this morning:
http://i.imgur.com/rP2KQ8R.jpg (Despite me likely hearing these songs digitally long before I will on vinyl; my Technics have been in storage for years. I'll dig them out someday.) |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I'm heading out to Amoeba in a bit. Got movies to trade in and some RSD stuff to buy!
|
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Ha, missed Oblivion, because the lines are pretty ridiculous to check out. Went to Canterbury and Poobah's out here and got a couple of items from Canterbury's, but Poobahs pissed me off. They filed all of their RSD releases in with the regular stock. Why would they do that? Don't they know that most people don't even know what comes out today as an exclusive? I'll be hitting up Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie in Highland Park shortly.
Here's what I got this morning: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...pse516ba64.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...psb5b6e3c5.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...psb29a12f5.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...ps722c009d.jpg |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Picked up the following RSD releases today:
Dio/killswitch Stooges/Black Keys Garbage Deftones Snapcase White Stripes Really bummed that I missed out on Porno For Pyros and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Those were the two I really wanted. Also wanted the Death Waltz releases but no one in my area ever got them. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
The lines were hours long at Amoeba, out in the sun, so I said fuck it, traded in my stuff, and bought a bunch of non-exclusives. I'll do a tally when I get home.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Just got back from Gimme Gimme and they had squat. They also limited to one RSD purchase per person. They had the Jack White liquid filled LP but they wanted $325 for it. Fuck that. I noticed that the RSD stuff they had was marked a few dollars higher than the first spot I went to. They also had the At the Drive In "Relationship" something, but they wanted $40 for it, so I left.
I'm calling it a day on RSD. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Okay, here's my haul, in no particular order (original issue unless otherwise noted):

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I did well at RSD '13. Managed to get the Drive pic disc at Waterloo and found a hidden glow Poltergeist at Encore. Those were the two I was wondering if I'd actually find. Picked up a couple of the Miles Davis releases, The Zombies, Joan Jett, Factory Records 10" sampler, Cypress Hill, White Stripes, The Cure, The Glove. Would have bought the Coltrane, Dazed And Confused and Notorious BIG if I'd seen them.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I think Record Store Day does not match the demand now; some of the releases should have had much higher print numbers as this isn't a totally niche event anymore.
