The album only has 5 tracks and the fifth track is a live one. The price is right and I love that cover artwork.

The title track is a rather good version of Roky Erickson's "If You Have Ghosts". Produced by Dave Ghrol, it also includes covers of Abba's "I Am A Marionette", Depeche Mode's "Waiting For The Night" and Army Of Lovers' "Crucified".

Ah, so it's a cover album. I didn't know that. Shit, Army of Lovers' Crucified? That was a great track. haha

Ghost is covering songs by the lead of the 13th Floor Elevators (Erickson) and ABBA on the same record? I'm in

Day of the Dead stk.

I listened to Ghost's most recent album and it sounded nothing like King Diamond or Mercyful Fate. It was good, but I think that's not a great comparison to make. It sets up certain expectations that are unfair to Ghost.

Their debut album is the one that many say has a MF meets BOC feel to it. I love both albums, but they sound very different.

Hmmm, I don't know what to say then. That's who I felt (and others too) they sounded like.

Got it. I'll have to give the first album a try. The second album was still good, though.

Ah yes, BOC too - there's that connection, as well.

Listened to the first album. Now I see why people are making those connections. Funny thing is, I prefer the second album.

I await their cover of "Crucified," because watching the original video by Army of Lovers makes me chuckle. I remember they made fun of it on Beavis and Butthead back in the day. It's a good track but silly ass hell video.

Picked up the second Portishead album. $11.99 on Amazon. The packaging is odd. The album is 50:30, and it spans two discs, at 33 rpm. Side one consists of two songs, totaling 8:47. Why not make it a 45 rpm?

I can't tell you how many times in college I pointed at the Velvet Underground and Nico album on a record store wall and laughed at the $50 price tag. Go check what they are going for on eBay now.

I just paid a little over $80 for that original issue White Light/White Heat. And sadly, that's not the most I've ever spent on a single record.

The Inside Llewyn Davis OST (new Coen Bros. movie) will be available at a discounted price of $6 for one day only (Tue 11/5) on Nonesuch. Not sure if this price is 100% confirmed, but something to check out tomorrow if interested.

I'll bite on that, unless the shipping is too expensive.

I bought a copy of White Light White Heat for $8 about 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure its original but it has heavy shelf wear and maybe VG vinyl. I can't see the skull on the cover but haven't really looked that close through the wear.

I just bought that white UK cover recently - late 70's early 80's.

Mine was in NM condition, so I felt okay dropping some bread on it.

Newbury comics is supposed to have Llewyn Davis too. Couldn't find it online. Maybe in store only at that price?

Why So Blu? 11-05-13 09:14 AM

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Llewyn Davis is now on sale for 5.98 + 4.00 for shipping. It's under $10 total and comes with the Mp3 and poster.

I'm thinking about it………

EDIT - they add state sales tax, so my total is 10.41. Still thinking about it.

I'm not one to buy soundtracks but this is an exception. Ordered. $10.34 shipped.

Geofferson 11-05-13 09:50 AM

Re: The VINYL Thread!

bullmoose.com also has it in stock. $2.99 shipping so saves you $1.

(not sure if theirs comes with the mp3 and print though)

Anyway, I picked up a copy as well. Price is too good to pass up.

An unreleased Dylan song from 1963 is on it. So there's that.

My local record store has a 50 cent room. It gets cleared out and replaced with new stuff every 3 weeks. Thousands of records. I always find good stuff that the owner either misses or doesn't meet his standards.

Marvin Gaye - What's Goin' On (original, perfect condition)
Grateful Dead - History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear's Choice)
Santana - S/T (original old Columbia label, spotless)
CSN&Y - Deja Vu (original heavy textured cover)

And Elton John, all original: Goodbye Yellow Brick Rd., Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water

I probably listen to What's Going On two to three times a month. Easily one of my favorite records. I went for the MFSL version of that one.
