Re: The VINYL Thread!
I had a pretty nice vinyl purchasing experience recently and thought I'd share. I was on vacation so, I actually got to go to a record store (we have none in my town or nearby). I was like a kid in a candy shop.
I picked up:
Laterlus by Tool (a double LP picture disc - google it for images, its really neat)
Legend by Witchcraft (a nice yellow and brown splatter)
One of Us is the Killer by Dillinger Escape Plan (this one is clear vinyl, gatefold, with a poster)
Volunteers by Jefferson Airplane (not a huge fan of represses for classics, but it was on sale)
Magician's Birthday by Uriah Heep (original pressing here, this is the sort of music that is really only appreciated on vinyl, in my opinion)
Also, by mail order, I got recently:
The Blackest Beautiful by Letlive. (music good, production terrible, clear vinyl, comes with a CD)
Undertow by Tool (lowsy, cheap packaging, sounds good though and it was affordable)
Hazards of Love by The Decemberists (a great album, sounds great, nice packaging)

FYI, the Only God Forgives soundtrack is now streaming on Pitchfork. I know a few pre-ordered the vinyl.

Some new stuff I got:
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (self titled new album)
Old stuff I got:
The Beatles - Abbey Road (Apple label, decent enough condition)
Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove (gatefold with bonus EP intact, 1978)
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
And going though the old, musty box of mostly crap records from the in-laws, I found a very playable and original copy of Johnny Cash in San Quentin. Worked the Spin-Clean magic. Over the top awesome record.

What's with these eBay stooges?
Case in point. Jenny Lewis Acid Tongue. These thing are currently on eBay for $75 - 100 a copy.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JENNY-LEWIS-...item35c602d796
But a quick look at the selling history doesn't justify that price in any way.
The Avett Brothers - Gleam II is selling for $400!! Some a bit cheaper. Insanity.

On vacation, I went to this store in Lakewood, Ohio called "My Mind's Eye".
Great store, great selection and the prices were really good! I ended up picking up some Ancient VVisdom and Iron Butterfly records.

Dead Waltz sent me an email and it looks like they will be starting up their subscription III soon. The price is 170£. That's pretty steep for U.S. folks. That's over 250$ and I don't know if shipping is included.

I got Scorpion Child -- Scorpion Child in the mail. A really solid album, they are a straight up guitar rock band. The packaging is really nice. Side 1,2,3 have music, side 4 is etched. The records are bronze colored.

Yeah that whole situation with the Fog kind of irked me. There's a couple releases I want to track down, but I can't justify the prices. I know shipping overseas can be costly but their prices are insane.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I ordered the limited-to-100-copies Lent Edition of Ulver's new album, which comes wrapped in a handmade leather case with two 180-gram platters and other goodies.
The cost was 50 Euro, the shipping (required to be insured & registered) from Norway was 40 Euro! So, basically came to $112 for a record that cost around half that. THAT is an insane shipping price.

Bought a bunch of vinyl down at Third Man Records (Jack White) while I was in Nashville. (Shins, Jenny and Johnny, White Denim, Beck, First Aid Kid "Live at Third Man Records")
I picked up a copy of Kraftwerk Trans Europe Express still in shrink wrap back home over the weekend.
