Re: The VINYL Thread!
Will do!
From what I've heard, this one is better than the past US pressings, but all the US pressings, including this one, are from a copy tape of the original UK master tape that Virgin sent to Warner back in 1978 for the US pressings (in practice, if a UK label owned the master tape, they would never send that one to the US label, they would make a copy instead). Apparently the original UK pressing is really the one to beat, but I can't afford a nice pressing of that one, so this will have to do!

Marty Willson-Piper's Vinyl Collection in Portugal "In Deep Music Archive". Moving it from the UK to Portugal was quite an adventure. Ever try to move a 65k+ music collection to another country?: Marty knows.

First four Danzig official reissues. Ordered Thursday, got them Saturday. Waited years to be able to retire the originals. Only D1 was reissued once. 2007 picture disc.
As of now, only place to get them, maybe by February a wider release. Hope no variants, its gonna be a lot of money spent if so.

I'd really like to get these (I've never owned them on vinyl, only CD) but wanted to hear some reviews first, how do they sound? And how is the quality of the pressings and sleeves?

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I only have the first album on vinyl; by the time the second one came out all of the stores around me had dropped vinyl. I might be down for II, III, and 4, but I'm currently sketchy on Glenn Danzig since he started putting Nazi shit on his merchandise. Not sure I want to financially support him.

Spoke too soon about double-dipping... Malibu Eddie is getting a new hat, and I gotta have it! Only have my original copy of this on vinyl from forty years ago (wha?), so I think I can indulge here. Really want that programme, and the 180 vinyl sounds nice.

Featuring the original revered gatefold sleeve artwork, the album comes with two 140g vinyls (one in blue, the other in yellow) featuring the 2015 audio remastering. The package also includes a replica 24 page World Slavery Tour programme, bringing back to life the original tour programme for new generations.
Additionally the vinyl features a replica tour pass and a glossy 12 page booklet, which contains the original eight-page booklet alongside an exclusive and brand new essay entitled Rime And Punishment: Celebrating 40 Years Of Live After Death, where Iron Maiden Fan Club editor Alexander Milas interviews Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Rod Smallwood and acclaimed illustrator Derek Riggs about the legendary album.

Whoa, I didn't know about that shit. The reviews are coming in and the new vinyl is supposed to be really nice, so I ordered III and IV (free shipping!). The first two albums are already sold out, but they'll probably get a restock and there are strong rumors that they will be available from other vendors in the new year. I hope so, or I'll be pissed that I missed out on them!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Yeah, it looks like I and II are back in stock. I'll wait until I get III and IV in the mail to see how good the pressings are first. I don't think these are going away permanently any time soon, so I'll take my chances.

The final David Bowie vinyl box set is going to be released on September 10th. Containing 18 LPs, 'I Can't Give Everything Away' will consist of his 4 studio albums from the 21st century (Heathen, Reality, The Next Day, ★ BLACKSTAR), as well as live albums A Reality Tour and his 31-song set from the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2002, plus a couple of EPs and another compilation of singles, B-sides, and various live recordings (Re:Call 6). Very much looking forward to this, as I own the Brilliant Adventure box set which covered his 1990s period through Toy in 2001.

** An update to this ... This set has been very pricey up here in Canada ($650 CAD + shipping at Warner Music, $730 at Sunrise Records, Amazon between $575 & $720, depending on the day) so I'd been holding off on it. A couple of days ago, Amazon Canada dropped it down to $454 so I jumped on it. It just arrived and it's gorgeous. Was a little concerned when I opened the package and discovered no packing materials at all, just the vinyl boxset inside a big empty Amazon carton. Fortunately, no damage to the set itself (no idea why Amazon ships it like this). I added another set to my 'save for later' cart after I ordered it so I could check any subsequent price changes and, yep, the price started going back up again (it's now at $595) so, yeah, I'm glad I didn't hesitate on that deal. Beautiful hardcover book included with the set, too. Looking forward to spinning some of these albums - the Montreux Jazz Festival concert will likely be first - when I get some time. Love this period in Bowie's career ...

Anyone heading out for Black Friday Record Store Day on the 28th? I have my eye on a couple of albums ... the live INXS from '86 and Warren Zevon: Epilogue, recorded here at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival back in '02 and was, what turned out to be, his final concert.

The RSD in April usually has the bigger exclusive releases. The local record shop I go to has 15% off their regular stock on RSD so I'll be doing some browsing while I'm there and, hopefully, find a good deal or two.

RSD Black Friday...
Let's see what I might be interested in...
Led Zeppelin - Trampled Under Foot 7"
Always down for a new 7" since I don't have a lot of those.
Spinal Tap - The End Continues 12'
Haven't bought this yet, so this edition, with exclusive tracks, would be a no-brainer.
Motorhead - Live at Brixton '87
Ramones - Live at CBGB 1977
Bad Brains - Live at the Bayou, Washington DC
Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare Live From the Forum (Double LP)
Lot of live albums here. The Bad Brains album sounds interesting since it's from early in their career. And the Ramones album, recorded at CBGB, has a good pedigree. Also interested in the Cooper album since it was recorded on the Nightmare tour. Of the four, I think the Motorhead one is the only that is a reissue. These RSD live albums always make a little nervous, since I'm never sure what the quality of the recording and performance is, and you sort of have to buy them before you read reviews.
Gotta see how much these cost, though. Don't know if I want to drop fifty bucks on a double live Alice Cooper album sight unseen.

There's actually a lot of records I want from the list, I'm gonna have to show some restraint.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Just off the top of my head, the titles appealing to me are the live records by Ramones (of course), but also the English Beat, Talking Heads, and Fleetwood Mac. The last one is probably the easiest to omit, as it's a 1975 concert, with Lindsey Buckingham singing songs previously sung by other FM singers, as opposed to his own creations. Still important and interesting, but not required.
Then there's a re-release of The Dead Milkmen's debut Big Lizard in my Backyard, and a new record by Pacific Northwest faves The Young Fresh Fellows.

Perused the list again - I must've missed the Soul Coughing remix release the first time. That's the main thing I'm really interested in this round. I already have an OG Dead Milkmen, but wouldn't mind the reissue with extra material, and the Jazz Sabbath is also intriguing. I could put it next to my Brown Sabbath from a previous RSD.
Unfortunately, I'll be out of town, and not sure I'll be able to shop. Called on a friend to check for the Soul Coughing for me, but don't want to burden him with too awful much.

Hypothetically, it would be a complete strikeout for me this year.
Nothing strikes my interest, nor even triggers any impulse buying for me.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Just saw a blurb that the Ramones recording is "lo-fi, done with a single stereo microphone"
I may get it as a completist and lifelong die hard Ramones fan, but if you're a casual fan, this might be one to skip. There's better quality live recordings of the boys.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I put in for the Dwight Yoakam box set and the Bluey for my daughter. If i get them fine, if not fine. Most rsd stuff is trash, and i never listen to live albums, which most of it is.
