Re: The VINYL Thread!
I just pre-ordered the "Only God Forgives" score on vinyl. They also have the Man of Steel soundtrack score in 2-disc vinyl sets. Don't know about that one. I'll see the film first.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Ordered my new Rega RP-1 today. Tracking says it'll be here Tuesday!
Good month for albums too. I've got pre-orders in for the re-issue of Revolutions Per Minute by Rise Against, the first Kadavar album, and the re-issue of King Crimson's Red. I'm also hoping to get hold of Mad Season's Above.
Oh yeah, new August Burns Red in late June, too!

King Crimson Red re-release:
You can get it June 3 from Burning Shed if you don't want to wait.
Red is the fourth in a series of audiophile King Crimson vinyl reissues.
Newly cut from masters approved by Robert Fripp, this super-heavyweight 200gm vinyl re-issue is housed in a reprint of the original sleeve and contains bonus MP3 codes giving access to a download of a transfer of an original 1974 pressing (Robert Fripp's personal file copy).
One of the most powerful and influential albums in the band's remarkable career.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
There has been a really stupid American Express commercial on Hulu this week. Briefly: Hipster girl shopping for vinyl. Hipster girl paying with her AmEx. Hipster girl trying to eat a blue record.

She's from the IFC TV show Portlandia, among other things, which obviously, some of you have never seen. As with the show, the commercial is very much a parody, or sarcastic look, at hipsters and such. In other words, it's supposed to be somewhat stupid, as it's poking fun. Once you realize that, it is actually kind of funny.

I pre-ordered that Red release, but from Amazon.
I also found a very nice copy of Vangelis' Opera Sauvage on ebay, so I ordered that.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Yeah, Burning Shed is a little too proud of their shipping.
Have you gotten the other KC re-releases?
I have a very nice original pressing of Court of the Crimson King, but I'm strongly considering the re-releases for Lizard and In the Wake of Poseidon because they are pretty expensive to get original pressings. And I have Red on pre-order from amazon as well (apparently they've pushed back their release to July for that one).

I'm considering getting some of the other re-releases, but I'll see how Red sounds first.
I also just ordered the new Queens of the Stone Age from Matador. It's on backorder, but it was cheaper than Amazon.

When I pre-ordered QUOTSA, it was much cheaper at Best Buy, but $15 ... but does not appear to be any more.
It is a great album... I posted this in the QUOTSA thread
I should add, the records play at 45

I got the vinyl in the mail today and it sounds great The album itself is cool, the gatefold and sleves have some nice artwork based on the video's they have been releasing. The album comes with a "lottery ticket" that has the light bulb from Era Vulgaris ... you scratch it off and get the download code for a FLAC and MP3 version of the album.
Overall, very nice packaging and the lottery ticket is a cool touch.

The über box set of Nick Drake's Bryter Later is currently available.

You can't get the Pink Moon box any more so I assume this will be limited.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
It's not so much hating her (i don't even know who she is) but the dumb commercial. I saw it on my 55" TV upstairs and saw there was even a blue piece of plastic in her mouth.
