Re: The all things METALLICA thread!
no problem.
When I first bought the Blu-ray, the dude was nice enough to let me know it was a bootleg, so I asked him if it had a 5.1 mix and he said yes, so I still bought it. I was shocked how great it looked and sounded... Then months later I found the legit one and bought that one also.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!
Well after looking at the setlist for the Rome show I may sell my tickets. The opening bands blow and the setlist is ho-hum at best. I was hoping that this would be an opportunity to get some interesting cuts from albums, even if they were some from Load and Reload. However, its turned into Black and Master of Puppets album almost solely. I love those albums, but this is nothing they would have not played if they picked their own setlist. Hopefully I can sell my tickets and get some to the Fortarock Festival in the Netherlands. Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Ghost, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Behemoth, Ghost, and Deafheaven sound way more appealing at this point.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!
That was a mess. I like the idea but trying to incorporate a piano into a song like One is doomed to fail. Fade to Black might have worked better.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!
Fade to Black would have been better, yes. But this is also why I felt they should have went with Yoshiki.
He is well trained in classical but also rock music (XJAPAN) and I believe he could have actually done a better job with "One" and maybe added in a drum battle with Lars !

Sounds like the piano player was kicking his keyboard down the stairs.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!
I prefer this version to the one they did @ the Grammy:
http://youtu.be/JjS-4B1tmog
not sure why they would want to try & "reinvent" a classic song... at most it will only give you mixed results...

Ronnie James Dio Tribute Album
Throughout the years we’ve made no secret of our deep love and admiration for Ronnie James Dio. Whether it was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell or Dio, his powerful voice was instantly recognizable and his music inspired and influenced the four of us tremendously. When we were asked to be a part of a tribute album for Ronnie, of course we immediately said "fuck yeah!" Choosing a song to record, however, was a MUCH harder decision . . . so we did four! Our contribution to Ronnie James Dio: This Is Your Life will include the medley we call "Ronnie Rising, " comprised of Rainbow’s "A Light In The Black," "Tarot Woman," "Stargazer," and "Kill The King."
The full album hits the streets and all of your friendly digital outlets on April 1, 2014 and a portion of the proceeds from sales will benefit the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Should Cancer Fund (www.diocancerfund.org).
