I have the original pressing on vinyl, but I'd love to get that orange vinyl version.

That orange vinyl looks cool. I guess with tax and shipping it'll put the total at $20+ or so.

Same here but it looks like you can't add the orange to your cart on their site any longer. Guess I'll just have to hit up my local shop on release day.

Edit: scratch that, must've been a temp error. Worked. $23.xx shipped in CA. Not bad.

The CD coming in a long box is kinda funny/cool, but even as a novelty it seems kinda pointless. It doesn't seem like something to display or even hang onto.

Cool, I wasn't expecting this, I thought Justice would be next and this EP would just be a part of the Garage Inc. set.

I remember when I got mine, there was a sticker on it that said "$5.98 EP - DO NOT PAY MORE."

And, naturally, the Hastings I was at had the LPs and cassettes stickered for $6.98.

I already bought it from an indie record store, though.

Is this a fucking joke? Release AJFA already. I'm not buying any of these until they do.

Yeah they are just going in order. This is probably a release you could skip unless you want it as a collectible. I'm assuming the garage inc. set will be loaded.

I guess they are just being completest about the reissue program, they did include the Creeping Death EP (with the original Garage Days Revisited on the B-side) in the RTL box (although vinyl only, not on the CDs) and those songs will obviously be a part of the Garage Inc. set too (which I can't wait for!)

You mean it's not $5.98? What a rip-off, glad I got mine on vinyl 31 years ago.

I don't think a remix is going to happen as long as James and Lars are in control.

Never say never. If money is at issue and we are talking about Lars Ulrich, they'll do it.

I won't say never, but Hetfield just recently said that he doesn't believe in making changes to their songs even though there's things he wishes they had done differently.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Does colored vinyl still have the issue wherein the sound quality is worse than black vinyl ? And it also wears out quicker due to the lower carbon content in the vinyl ? If so, hilarious that they're releasing better sounding versions on a worse sounding product. And charging an arm and a leg for it.

Metallica may have pissed me off from time to time over the last 35 years, but this is pretty damn cool ...

Picture discs are the most problematic, in that they are created by by glueing a paper picture between two clear pieces of vinyl, then overlaying clear, shallow grooves over both sides. So picture discs are basically flexi-discs with poor sound quality that will wear out quickly.

I think colored vinyl has the same sound quality as black vinyl, but it's not as durable, and may not hold up to as many plays as black vinyl. Regular black records have carbon added to them that increases the number of plays you can get out of it before the sound quality degrades.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Yeah. It's the lack of carbon that supposedly makes any play past the first one a bit of a shitshow.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

So I got Metallica tickets about two months ago. We're supposed to get free Hardwired CDs with each ticket.

I filled out the online form I was sent to claim them, got an e-mail confirmation after I filled it out, and still haven't received the CDs. It's been about five or six weeks (toward the end of march was when I filled out the form and selected CDs).

I suppose the fulfiller is in no hurry to ship out free CDs, but does it always take this long?

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

oh, thanks for reminding me about that. I just entered my order and the summary says 2-4 weeks for the CD to arrive.

I know that Metallica counted these sales since the week after the new tour started, the album sales from the free giveaway pushed it back into the top ten Billboard charts.

I'm actually surprised more bands don't do this, it seems like a loophole to drive albums sales.

If anyone wants a download code for Hardwired....To Self-Destruct PM me. I have one I don't need when I picked up the vinyl.

Cool, obviously the BBFC only reviews the video portion, but it looks like at least two full shows?

And this caught my eye: "RAW LIVE FOOTAGE FROM HAMILTON ONTARIO - APRIL 8". Holy shit, I was at that show in '88, awesome!

And a November release sounds right, just before Christmas.
