Exactly!

For someone making most likely minimum wage (she said the tip was the same as her two week paycheck)... an extra $600 is huge.

Yeah, I thought the Tour Doc, while obviously highly edited and curated to present Tay in the best possible light, was still a pretty interesting look at mounting a massive tour and navigating life and art while being the most famous person on the planet.

Loved the documentary and then the final show. Waited until I finished the documentary to watch it.

Taylor should run herself down in her own doc? Why? Plenty of that elsewhere on YouTube and the internet.

Absolutely not. Just saying there's a difference between this sort of tour doc and, say, Gimmie Shelter. I am fine with what we got and it's about as good as I would have expected, but it's not a warts-and-all exploration of all things Taylor 2024. I liked it much more than Miss Americana, that's for sure.

I don't think we will ever see an independent documentary happen. Taylor is too controlling of her image... and I don't blame her at all for being that way.

The doc/final show really made me regret not finding a way to see once.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

The shows were absolutely electric. Nothing like it I've ever been to. Felt like being in the most important place on earth at the time -- especially my second show in Philly. The Vegas show was so early that people weren't fully buzzing about each show yet. By Philly, there was a crowd of thousands standing outside the venue to hopefully just hear some music floating through. Plus the Swifties took over the whole town (and all trains out of town the next day). It was amazing.

Yeah... I could feel that just a tiny bit watching the doc and of course the final show.

I saw some 50+ Dead shows back in the day, so the idea of a 3 hour show, and a crowd that is living for the music and the people around them was not something unknown to me. But the show I saw (Denver) was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The fact that she could put on a non-stop (no intermission!) show for 3+ hours was amazeballs. And the crowd was the nicest I have ever been a part of. People were friendly with everyone they encountered, all day and all night.

I have a friend who does pedicabs around Mile High so has done football games and countless concerts, and she said that the Swifties were easily the nicest stadium crowd she had ever worked.

Before the show I could not understand people who flew to other cities or countries to see the tour, but after? I half-contemplated doing the same.

I saw a number of Dead shows back in the day too... definitely amazing experiences.

I saw news reports that it was cheaper to fly out of the country, get a hotel, food and the ticket for less than some of the US ticket prices.

Most of the EU countries have anti scalping laws plus the populous hasn't been conditioned to US ticket price levels and to just take it. You try to raise tickets prices 1€ and they riot. Even in the UK the first and since only attempt at dynamic pricing (Oasis) lead to legislation and a ban on touts.

Speaking of the Eras Tour, I put up my first piece of non-sports memorabilia decoration in my office in ages :

I was one of the people that stuck it out through the ticketmaster outages and after 7 hours or so, landed 2 $49 tickets.

Yeah, it's very fun. The bit at the end is very cool - I hadn't watched that Graham Norton show so I didn't realize that was the genesis of the idea and casting.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

From her Instagram...

My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, @TheGrahamNortonShowOfficial. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, @JodieSmith, and @LewisCapaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, @rpstam, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film. The Opalite video is out now on Spotify & Apple Music.

I wonder what she is going to release or rerelease on the day the new Charli XCX album comes out?

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

And now the reason behind the Apple Music/Spotify exclusive. YouTube streams no longer count toward the Billboard 100. Probably a lot of artists are going to do the same now.

https://www.tvfandomlounge.com/taylo...-for-charting/

Just a couple of months ago, YouTube announced it would pull its streaming data from Billboard’s chart formulas after changes to how paid and free streams were weighted. That means YouTube views now no longer meaningfully boost a song’s position on the Billboard Hot 100.
