Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Yeah I got my ticket ready for a 6pm IMAX show on Friday. I saw they are giving out a small poster. I think it's the same image that is used in all the press material for this movie. Not sure if I really want the popcorn bucket and cup. I don't want to get a soda and need to pee in the middle of this since it's going to be super crowded. I hate getting up in the middle of a sold out showing.

Well, if the need arises, you will have 10 minutes during "All Too Well".

But you will get to have the real concert experience right down to either a men’s room with no lines or one that’s been taken over by women. 😀

Early in the tour people claimed to wear adult diapers for the show.

Thursday shows were added. I'm curious to see if they are selling since the vast majority got their tickets for Friday.

She made an appearance at The Grove in LA for the red carpet premiere tonight

No wait, she also added Long Live to the setlist after Speak Now TV dropped.
Seriously I don't know how she edits 45 minutes out of the show without pissing off her fans.

Edit : Here you go : No songs cut and two surprise songs included.
Lies. They cut six songs. I'm bummed because I wanted to see no body, no crime with Haim as well as Long Live for the first time. And Wildest Dreams is a gorgeous hit. Also, tis the damn season is a song that my wife singled out after the show as one of her favorites of the night.

Okay here's one alleged rivalry that isn't: Beyoncé showing up at Taylor's premiere is cool as hell.

I believe the songs cut out are The Archer, 'Tis the Damn Season, and No Body, No Crime. The Archer and 'Tis the Damn Season are very unusual songs that are not as catchy as the other songs; once the movie hits streaming or home video release, they may be put back.

Watch for most of them to be put back in on streaming or home video release some time in early 2024.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Oh sure. But I wanted to see them in the theater this weekend. It's not like anyone attending the movie was gonna complain the show was 'too long'.

The cynic in me suspects that she'll release six special versions of the concert on Blu-Ray, each in it's own color, and each with one of the excised songs re-inserted.

I doubt that. It will likely be on a two-disc DVD or Blu-ray and (likely) on streaming with most of the songs re-inserted. The Archer and 'Tis the Damn Season probably were dropped because they are not songs for less-than-fully-devoted Swifties, like I said earlier.

By the way, Swift probably agreed to this because movie theaters are very reluctant to go past 2:30 for a single movie. However, you never know--it the customer request is there, it could be put back maybe about a month from now.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I just checked my local AMC and tonight’s shows still have plenty of seats left. As I said, the vast majority got their tickets for tomorrow. Unless some really hardcore fans plan to see it back to back days.

I’m fully expecting a mad house tomorrow night.

This is pretty cool. Taylor took selfies with almost every fan in the front row of the red carpet.

the one I saw was Rick Caruso’s daughter. He owns the grove where the premiere was.

I’m honestly surprised that she hasn’t released official bootlegs like Springsteen and Pearl Jam. With different surprise songs at each performance that would be a gold mine. Maybe after the tour ends. They can market it as “remember when you saw her live, well relive the memories.”

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Some artists have released complete tour sets containing every single show complete. If her fans are rabid enough she might getaway with a massive cd set of 52 complete shows. You need every show to get all the unique particulars of each show. In stores for Christmas!

Leaving in less than 30 minutes. I think I'm going to pass on the popcorn bucket. No use for it and I don't really like eating popcorn all that much. Once in a while. Hopefully they will have some cups left.

My local drive-in owner was interviewed by Variety about the concert film. He said he will make more money this weekend than he did in the whole month of August. https://variety.com/2023/film/news/t...QHS1mqb74wOAIY He has two showings at 7:30pm and one showing at 11pm tonight.

It's really well done. Beautifully shot. Sounds great. It's a first rate concert film for sure. Taylor looks amazing but you'll get distracted by her increasingly crazy and unmanageable hair as the night goes on. The audience I was with really enjoyed it, some people, especially kids were up and dancing. Some little girls at the end of the movie were standing at the bottom of the theater stairs asking to trade friendship bracelets with other movie goers. Very sweet.

And Coral will hate it : you see Kobe's young daughter beaming with joy when Taylor gives her the 22 hat and hugs her.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Just got back. I had a blast. My audience was 300 plus and it was completely sold out. The auditorium was rocking, especially with the hit songs from the 1989 album. I didn’t know every song in the near 3 hour film, but knew the key ones. The last number in the blue outfit was pretty awesome. The picture and sound were pretty incredible. This was a very interactive theater going experience and the lively fans made it fun. I couldn’t imagine seeing this for the first time alone.

They had tons of posters. The guy gave me two copies. I’m giving one to my niece, who actually saw one of her live shows at Sofi. I also got the large cup and I gave in and got the popcorn bucket with handle. They also had a small cup and popcorn tin. Those had to be redeemed at another booth.

A really sweet Swiftie passed out treats to everyone standing in line. Swifties are really cool.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Did she re-record or make a Taylor's version of Cruel Summer?

The track on Lover sounds different from the version I heard on SIrius XM.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

No. She owns the master to LOVER, so there's no need for her to make a "Taylor's version". The song was released as a single in 2023, but that was the Lover version. Maybe you heard a remix.
