Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Went to the Q101 Piqniq, an all day festival of sorts, saw Strumbellas, Bear Hands, Broods, Lucius, Robert DeLong, Young the Giant, Lumineers and Garbage.
What I've found at the Tinley Park Amphitheater is that they release a lot of great seats the week before many of their shows. I had choices of 2nd row, 4th row, etc, throughout the venue, all for face value ($55).

Just got back from Buckethead at The Novo at L.A. Live and he was phenomenal as always!
So NOW I KNOW what folks meant when they said they got to play the "kill switch" - that was such a cool moment. Buckethead really does give back to the fans a ton.
His magnus opus "Soothsayer" was epicness - unleashed and it was good to see his girlfriend Big D doing her contemporary dance number. The last time I saw Buckethead live was around 2009-2010 at the HOB in Anaheim around the same time that Dragons from Eden had come out. Man, she's still a PAWG. This and the John Carpenter show have been the best shows of the year so far.

I'm heading to Guns N Roses tonight... they're kicking off in Detroit. I hope Axle actually hits the stage before 11pm but I'm not holding my breath. I was at their Detroit show in 2002 when they broke up

Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo
Paramount Theater, Denver
6/14
My wife is a big fan, so I took her for her birthday. Good show. It started with a video montage of their history, which was good for people like me. Neil can play quite well, Pat sounded good, the bassist and drummer did their bits. There was a 3-4 song acoustic portion in the middle where Pat and Neil did a cover of Prince's "When Dove's Cry". In between songs, they would tell a short story about what was going on in their lives when the song was being written.

Finally got to see The Cure last night. Just a fantastic performance. I think I still have chills from "A Forest." Smith said the setlist was all of their singles. My pics from the show = https://www.flickr.com/photos/223254...57669599688272

I had a tremendous time at GnR last night, and they actually took the stage a couple of minutes early!

On Saturday 6/18, took the wife to see Steely Dan at The Hollywood Bowl with strings and fireworks! Was a nice warm evening during a So. Cal heatwave. The band played a solid show with lots of great tunes and excellent musicianship. Opened up with Green Earrings and also included Aja, Deacon Blues, Home At Last, Third World Man, Josie, Hey Nineteen, Kid Charlemagne, Caves of Altamira, The Royal Scam, and closed with Bodhisattva. Fantastic time!

Saw Garth last night in Vegas. He put on a Hell of a good show. He performed for like three hours. I'd seen his solo acoustic show at the Wynn, but this was my first "Real Garth" concert.
It was the second of a six-show, five-night stand at the new T-Mobile Arena. All the shows are being filmed for an upcoming TV Special (so everyone in the band has to wear the same outfits for every show so it will look like one concert when it's all cut together). Hopefully we'll end up with the first Garth Brooks concert Blu Ray as a result.

Regarding Guns N Roses - Is Axl back? Also, are they bigger now than they were when they weren't a nostalgia act? Were they playing football stadiums back in the day?
I've seen 3 shows at football stadiums - Pink Floyd, The Who, and The Grateful Dead. Those will be the last three shows I ever see at a football stadium.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Axl never left GnR.
I don't recall them playing (on their own as a headliner) stadiums in the US in the late 80s/early 90s.
I don't think they are any 'bigger' now and there is no new music at this time. It's just an 'event' type of thing with people wanting to see this somewhat of a reunion. I'll be seeing them next week at Paul Brown Stadium, but I wouldn't pay big bucks to go.

Yes, Axl never left, but Slash and Duff are back for the first time since 1993. The big deal is Axl and Slash back together, which most people thought would never happen (Hence the title of the tour: Not In This Lifetime). It was a must for me because GnR is absolutely one of my all time favorite bands, but they broke up just before my prime concert going years (graduated high school in 1995). I caught the tour opener in Detroit and loved it.

Blood, Sweat, and Tears
6/26/16 - Fraze Pavilion, Kettering, OH
They are pretty much a cover band at this point, but Bo Brice does cover the vocals pretty well.

Heading up to Indy on Friday to catch Def Leppard, with REO and Tesla as openers.
I don't know Shiite about Tesla (beside the cars), but am okay with REO as an opening act. Funny thing, I own 3-4 Def Lep albums but I always gravitate to Pyromania. I've listened to it so many many many times over the years that I frankly no longer know which of the songs was supposed to be the popular "hit" - I pretty much like 'em all. The expected set list is:
Let's Go
Animal
Let It Go
Dangerous
Foolin'
Love Bites
Armageddon It
Rock On (David Essex cover)
Rocket
Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Switch 625
Hysteria
Let's Get Rocket
Pour Some Sugar On Me
Encore:
Rock of Ages
Photograph
Edited to add:
The REO setlist should be:
- Don't Let Him Go
- Take It on the Run
- Keep Pushin'
- Can't Fight This Feeling
- Tough Guys
- Time for Me to Fly
- Back on the Road Again
- Ridin' the Storm Out
- Keep On Loving You
- Roll With the Changes
Should be a fun time!

I forgot to post after seeing them... they were awesome. Axle sounded fantastic. I don't see how he'll keep his voice for all the shows so I'm glad Detroit was first . Overall 9/10.
