Re: What concert did you recently attend?
I always forget how broke I get in January/February trying to get a nice line up for the summer. Definitely trying to pick and choose more these days since there are so many good shows coming. Decent list for the year so far:
Band of Horses 4/9 - Boulder Theater
Zac Brown Band 5/7&9 - Red Rocks
Taylor Swift 6/2 - Pepsi Center (taking my daughter)
Rodrigo Y Gabriela 7/28 - Red Rocks
Bruno Mars 8/5 - Red Rocks

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
I saw them for the 5th time on Monday in Bloomington, IN.
Easily the worst show of theirs I've been to... and not really their fault. The crowd was annoying and full of way too many bro's ( I guess I should've expected that, 2 miles from a college campus) and the sound guy must be deaf. Alex's keys were way WAAAAY too loud, it eventually got better but they still didn't have a good mix by the end of the show. The first half of their set was probably louder than when I saw Meshuggah a couple of weeks back, and it was because the keyboards were insanely loud.
Of course, I'm going to see them again this upcoming Monday in Louisville, so, hopefully the sound is better there.

Muse on March 7 at the Target Center in Minneapolis:
Muse was fantastic. The opening act, Dead Sara, was pretty close to awful. The lead singer has a great voice but the band and songwriting were pretty mediocre.
How was the sound on "Follow Me" at your show? The low frequencies pretty much overwhelmed the song in Minneapolis.

And I agree that the show was amazing. They certainly know how to put on a great show and back it up with visuals that enhance the experience. Did you get New Born or Stockholm Syndrome for your random song? And what song was being played in the picture you posted? I don't remember those visuals at the Detroit show. I know they mix it up some with a few songs that are different at each show.

We got "Stockholm Syndrome," and the song above was "Animals," I believe.

Saw Minus the Bear again on Monday. Much better sound... a great show and had a great time. Circa Survive was supposed to headline but cancelled a few hours before the show.
Now, Now opened and they weren't bad. I prefer them to Rah Rah, who opened for MtB last week.

Haven't been to a show since last Summer, but will be going to see Paul Van Dyk spin at the Avalon next month. Should a be a trip. Last time I saw him live was at the GIANT Hollywood block party in 2000.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
3/6, Moore Theater in Seattle: Morrissey w/ opening act Kristeen Young. We were very, very fortunate to get Morrissey, because he had rescheduled multiple dates prior to the (once-rescheduled itself) Seattle date, and he has now canceled the entire tour with refunds only, no rescheduling of any dates, because of recurrent and mounting health problems and the physical need for a hiatus from touring. The show was good (not the best I'd seen; this is probably my ninth time seeing him live over the years), but the crowd was awful. I respect anyone's right not to like or know much about Morrissey, but why would anyone pay the (rather high) ticket price for the opportunity to mock his vegetarian beliefs and giggle and snark throughout the show, expressing befuddlement that he's performing material from a decades-long, highly-successful solo catalog and demanding, very loudly and repeatedly, that he only play Smiths hits from 25 years ago? This was never going to be a cheesy nostalgia show at some casino or state fair (which anyone who knows the first thing about Morrissey would never expect), but it sure had the trashy, disrespectful crowd for it....

Saw Lindsey Stirling here in Indy last week on the 12th. Good show, but a little too loud for the small size of the room she was playing. Definitely needed earplugs. A group called The Vibrant Sound opened for her, and they weren't too bad. I paid extra for the VIP package, which included a meet and greet, autographs and other stuff.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Bob Dylan with opening act Mark Knofler. Dylan's usual mumbling had a certain charm to me, and his band were in good form. I'm sure he's had much better nights, but all in all, I still had fun. Maybe I'm paying more for the mystique than the guy at this point, but that's alright, I think he's earned it. And he played a lot of hits too. I was actually hoping to hear more from Tempest, to be honest. Much of the crowd complained that his voice was shot, which it has been for years, and it wasn't much to begin with anyway, but I didn't much care, I love the hell out of Dylan and I'll pay to see him again next time he comes to town in a heartbeat. Knofler was great too, nice laid-back atmosphere, great jam sessions, his band were in top form. I was hoping for some Dire Straits though, I was a bit disappointed, "So Far Away" was the only one I recognized. Still, he sounded great. I think he might've played guitar on a couple of Dylan's tunes, but the weird-ass way Dylan had the lights set up, I couldn't tell.

Just saw Graham Parker and the Rumour reunited after 30 years. Hell of a show and rock and roll royalty.
Dylan next week with opening act Dawes. (It'll be the 4th time I've seen Dawes. ) I agree with the previous poster about Dylan - I'm so tired of people complaining about Dylan's voice. It is what it is and he's Bob Dylan.

The Fixx last night, in a venue just like this one---it's like watching them in your living room! Really tight, Cy Curnin's voice sounds great, and I'm reminded again of why Jamie West-Oram is one of my favorite guitarists.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in San Diego last night. Small intimate theatre, 5th row seats, but ended up standing in the aisle in front of the stage for most of the show. He walked into to audience during "Red Right Hand" and was screaming the last verses right at me. As far as music performers, I can't think of anyone I enjoy more. He completely captivates his audience the moment he's on stage and never let's go. Got to meet him after the show. He was incredibly kind and gracious to everyone there and took time to talk, sign whatever, take photos. Despite his terrifying presence on stage, he was very personable after the show. I'm still pinching myself trying to make sure it was all real .
