Re: Metallica: Previously unreleased song "HATE TRAIN"

By the way, the shows all this week have all had a big museum-like setup with Cliff's basses, the guitar James' was using when the pyro burnt him (you can see the burn marks on the neck), and other goodies...

Goddamn, they have to put these out on DVD/Blu-ray.

Apocalyptica, Newsted, King Diamond, Tattler/Harris, Bif, Lou Reed, Armored Saint, Cantrell, Glenn Danzig, Pepper Keenan, Scott Ian, Laaz Rockit (!), Ozzy (maybe), Mustaine (maybe)...

...that's some seriously crazy and historic shit going down at the Fillmore.

METALLICA performed a previously unreleased song from the "Death Magnetic" sessions called "Rebel Of Babylon" last night (Saturday, December 10) at the fourth and final intimate show at the Fillmore in San Francisco as part of the week-long celebration of its 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27Mw-9vi0I

"Hit the Lights" with Dave, Ron and Lloyd. Lloyd even did the solo at the end.

Re: Metallica: Previously unreleased song "HATE TRAIN"

I wonder what he's been doing since Metallica. I know McGovney is out of music and lives on the east coast now, but we never heard from Grant again.

No shit. I think they have replacement for Kirk. And doesn't sound like Lloyd needed a wah pedal either .

Grant played the leads on the Metal Blade version of "Hit the Lights".

McGovney was the original bass player before Cliff.

Tanner is James' old friend, who he wrote Motorbreath with.

Are the tracks still in rough demo form, or did they master them for the release?

"This week, we’re releasing those four tracks through iTunes exclusively in North America and on iTunes and additional digital retailers in other parts of the world as the 'Beyond Magnetic' EP. All four studio versions of these songs were sent to Met Club members for free immediately following their live debut on stage at the Fillmore and tomorrow they will be available to everyone via the magic of digital downloading. They are the rough mixes, unfinished to their original degree of mixing from March of 2008, and those of you with very keen senses of sound might recognize bits and pieces from the 'Mission Metallica' videos posted in the summer of 2008.

I'd have bought a physical CD, but with none available I'll stick with the 4 files I've already acquired.

Dave Mustaine talks Metallica ...playing on the 30th Anniversary

http://www.musicradar.com/news/guita...d-riffs-519610

"I was trying to figure out, Do I learn the demo versions of the songs or the Kill 'Em All versions of the songs? Well, I found out it was the Kill 'Em All versions. OK, do I learn my solos from the demos, or Kirk's solos? What solos should I play? Then, when I got there, Kirk said, 'You know, why don't you play all the solos?' And I was like, 'Oooh!' [laughs] I had to quickly go through my bag of tricks."

"It's neat that people are able to see what this whole thing is about. The media made this so ugly for so long. We all still really care about each other. Everything has come full circle. It's 30 years later, and here we are. It's really weird, the whole mythology to this."

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/new...ica-23885.aspx

"I had some mood swings," says Mustaine. "There was some ups and downs and stuff. And, you know, got excited, and kind of got impatient, ‘Let’s go. I’m okay. Well, lets go!’ and this kind of thing and that’s just the artist in me. I’m just squirrely like that."

"Me and James, we were like the the Toxic Twins back when we played together and we were a very very dangerous duo. And for a moment I think I stirred some of those old feelings up. I saw one of the videos and it looked like he was having fun. I know I was having fun. I had a smile that I went to bed with."

Good stuff. Purchased and gifted.

I'd like to hear the entire death magnetic album at this stage of mixing.

Re: Metallica: Previously unreleased song "HATE TRAIN"

Night 1 of 4 has been posted to LiveMetallica.com. I want to get all 4 shows, but I'm going to wait and see if there's a special for buying them all.
