Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.
no... I'm a huge Sabbath fan, but Ozzy has become tired and boring. Ronnie breathed new life into the band 3 times. They were so awsome on the most recent with Dio, a well oiled machine. The last time I saw them with Ozzy it was decent but it didn't compare to the Heaven and Hell line up. The last few times I saw solo Ozzy he was very sloppy. Sharron was just waiting for something to happen so she could have Ozzy jump on the band wagon again.

I've always liked Ozzy with Sabbath - not too much solo. I have all Sabbath's albums up to Technical Ecstasy.
Never cared much for the Dio with Sabbath.

Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die are grossly under-rated albums. Ozzy may have had his problems during this time, but his work on these final two albums with Sabbath is stellar. I'll take both these over Sabotage.

Yeah and Face Dances and It's Hard are much better than Who's Next.

Grossly underrated? I completely agree. Better than Sabotage? Whoa there!

SABBATH did try to record a new album 12 years ago, the original lineup's first since 1978, but abandoned the attempt after just a couple of songs. The original lineup has not toured together since summer 2005 and last appeared together when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006.
About a decade ago, when I first thought this through, I was listening to The Medieval Babes some of whose material I think might also fit in quite well to link or introduce particular tracks... although perhaps this would be better suited to the aforementioned Sabb-Fest...
I realise that concentrating on covers and re-recordings might be deemed a failure of imagination but, on the other hand, if the tracks were well-chosen and placed in a well-thought out order... perhaps something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue (which might be old, new OR borrowed!)...
Ignore me, I'm rambling... unless, of course, you have some suggested tracks, within the above criteria, for a fantasy Sabbath album!

The main page of BLACK SABBATH's official web site has updated with the date 11.11.11 (November 11, 2011) below the band's classic logo. All four original members of the legendary heavy metal group — Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) — will attend a special announcement ceremony that day. Former BLACK FLAG frontman Henry Rollins will host the private event, which will be held at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California at exactly 11:11 a.m.

Specifically, it's the logo from Master of Reality (or close enough to it to be mistaken for it)

I'm excited to hear the new album since the guys did a great job with Dio on the last H&H record.
As for the tour, I'd probably see it depending on openers and venue. If they play Gibson Amp. here in CA I can guarantee I'll pass. And I totally can see them playing there.

Happiest of happies!
They should play ALL of Sabotage and NOTHING from Paranoid except Electric Funeral and Planet Caravan.

One could only hope.
Was there some sort of rift between RJD and Bill Ward ? Why was it that he was never "available" when the band hooked up but when Ozzy joins, he shows up ?
Every time I saw RJD talk about Ward, he had nothing but good things to say about him.
I see this as nothing but SHARON having the last go at being the "front-man" of Black Sabbath. No way was she going to let anyone else finish off the band before they all croak. She will be the death of Ozzy by making him do this. Either a minimal world tour or cancellations due to Ozzy and his health.

According to this article on Blabbermouth he was initially a part of H&H but some of the material made him "uncomfortable" so he bowed out of the project.

I will readily admit I'm much more a fan of RJD-era Sabbath, but I think Rubin will bring the necessary focus to the album sessions. As VHS? pointed out, Ozzy's health issues could derail this entire effort depending on what the scope of the tour will be.
