Yeah every interview I've seen with her shows that she has a sense of humor about herself. I don't normally like Letterman, but that was a pretty funny interview.

Per someone on twitter, Gaga is performing The Edge of Glory tonight on American Idol with Clarence Clemons doing the Sax solo

Personally, I don't think the sax solo fits with the rest of the song. I'm inclined to think Gaga just wanted Clemons on the song.

Interesting tidbit from an interview she did with Stephen Fry

Just look at the figures. Number one after number one, record-breaking releases of singles and albums, record-breaking YouTube visits, record-breaking numbers of Twitter followers. Oh, sure, this is one smart cookie. There’s money to be had in self-publicity and the championing of the lonely ones out there.
Well, of course, all that can be said. But against such arid *cynicism it should be pointed out that Lady Gaga did herself few financial favours during her last major world tour, The Monster Ball, which she began in 2009 to promote her album The Fame Monster. One of the most successful promotional tours ever, it quite literally bankrupted her. Her habit of redesigning, reformatting and revising it from the ground up, all of which experiments and changes she paid for out of her own pocket, certainly made the tour one of the most extraordinarily varied and unpredictable in history, but also one of the least profitable. Or so I had read and so legend insists to this day. I ask her if the stories are true.
“It’s honestly true that money means nothing to me. The only big things I’ve purchased are my dad’s heart valve and a Rolls-Royce for my parents, for their anniversary. And that was only because my dad had a Lady Gaga licence plate on our old car and it was making me crazy because he was getting followed everywhere, so I bought him a new car. Other than that I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball. And it was funny because I didn’t know! And I remember I called everybody and said, “Why is every*one saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five number one singles – and they said, ‘Well, you’re $3m in debt.’”
The sheer quality and popularity of the work, then being picked up by Live Nation for extended stadium shows and by HBO for a TV special, allowed the money to flow back in but I don’t suppose one could ever guarantee that such a state of affairs will never occur again.

Re: New Gaga single "Born this Way"
Alright, tonight I listened to all of The Fame, The Fame Monster, and Born This Way in a row. It's very clear to me that Born This Way is far inferior to the other two. On The Fame and The Fame Monster, every song is unique and memorable. Even the tracks that aren't hits are catchy and great pop. On Born This Way, the tracks blend together and almost nothing stands out. My initial assessment is more than confirmed when listening to her first two albums again.

I feel the exact same way. With the exception of Marry The Night, everything about Born This Way is forgettable. Her first two albums are fantastic; every song is unique and memorable and brought something new to the table. Another problem with Born This Way is that some of the tracks sound too much like other tracks: parts of Judas sound like outtakes from the Bad Romance session; Born This Way still sounds like Express Yourself meets Vogue; and the chorus Fashion Of His Love sounds like she had I Wanna Dance With Somebody in her head that day. But honestly, I could accept some of that (since all artists draw on those that come before them and sampling doesn't bother me) if the tracks weren't so damn forgettable; once you get past Marry The Night, every track just blends together into one giant mess. And some of the tracks that might otherwise be listenable, suffer from terrible over-production.
Honestly, after The Fame and The Fame Monster I expected more from Lady Gaga. I might try and listen to this album again a few times, but it just doesn't have the appeal of her first two albums; I listened to those all the time when they first came out and continue to listen to them.

Re: New Gaga single "Born this Way"
Also I tried watching her Monster Ball show from HBO and found it incredibly similar to David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, which is not a compliment. I can appreciate her message of "be who you are, whatever that is," but it bogged the show down to me. I feel like she's missing the point that by writing about her own obsessions and insecurities, she ends up speaking for the "monsters" she's trying to liberate. When she speaks directly to them, it's less interesting.
And that's really a shame, because The Fame is probably the best pop album since Kylie Minogue's Fever in 2002.

Re: New Gaga single "Born this Way"
While definitely not her best album, Born This Way suffers from way too high expectations. Even Gaga herself was saying it was going to be the best album of the decade. You have to be careful making statements like that.
She's no longer the underdog. It will be interesting to see where she goes from here with that being the case. I almost want to say she tried TOO hard with this album.
As it stands, the album will still provide no less than 4 good songs to add to any Gaga playlist.

I don't think this was a case of having too high expectations, at least not for me. I had my expectations in check, despite all the hype from the media and Lady Gaga herself, and I was still sorely disappointed.
Out of curiosity, which songs do you think are the good ones? I really want to like the album and am gonna try and give it another shot later on and want to see if maybe I'm overlooking some songs.

I'm not tired of any of the first three singles, plus Marry the Night. I also like You and I... I imagine Stefani singing that song, not Gaga.
P.S. the way I look at it, most artists only have 3-4 hit singles per album, tops. I rarely listen to full albums.
Again, not her best work, but she hasn't pulled a Hootie.

The first time I heard it I wasn't loving it, but I now really, really love The Queen. I enjoy it more each time I play it, which is a lot.

I listened to a few more of the songs and I'm still feeling the same. Loving Marry The Night, but after that it all goes downhill. I think Government Hooker had some potential, but it was over-produced and there are parts of the song that bring it to a standstill. The Queen suffers from similar problems; I like the lyrics and the flow of the song, but the production is terrible. Judas and Fashion Of His Love are probably my next favorite songs; but with Judas I'd just rather throw on Bad Romance and Fashion Of His Love isn't without its own problems.
Honestly though, I hope a month from now I throw on this album and do a complete 180. I just don't see it happening though. It all feels far too generic, forced, and safe. And I never felt that way with The Fame or The Fame Monster. With those albums I could listen to them over-and-over again and not only did the albums never get old, none of the tracks sounded alike. The singles were great, but the non-singles were just as great.
There are some artists and groups where I buy their albums out of habit more than anything, because I don't want my collection to be incomplete. Lady Gaga wasn't one of those artists, so I expected a quality album, top-to-bottom. Most of my favorite artists and albums aren't just 3-4 good songs, but an entire album worth of great material. I thought Lady Gaga could deliver it again, but it doesn't look she's going to, at least this time around.

Re: New Gaga single "Born this Way"
actually The Edge of Glory was meant to just be a promotional single that was so itunes can give fans a taste of the rest of the album, and a few radio stations were gonna play it a few times and then that be it, but it hit number 1 on itunes in a day and demand was high enough to a point where Gaga announced it was the next single
I guess that's the reason it seems like she's released a lot of singles in such a short period of time. I heard her say in an interview, though, that she doesn't want to do things the way the music industry tells her things have to be done (single release scheduling). She said if she feels like putting the song out there, she will, no matter how soon after her last song was out.

Re: New Gaga single "Born this Way"
Bought the album from Amazon and haven't gotten around to listening to it but the single BTW is still 'meh' for me. Caught the HBO special out of town and thought her acapella version is far superior. Nice harmony and good to know she can actually sing. Better than the stuff she does on stage with just her piano because it tends to sound cabaret or something.
