I'm a little late to the Arcade Fire party but i recently picked this cd up and i'm totally loving it. Just absolute joy to my ears. Looking forward to getting the other two albums now.

The debut "Funeral" was great at the time, very somber, but it hasn't really held up for me except for a few outstanding songs.
"Neon Bible" is just OK in my opinion.
"The Suburbs" is their best record in my opinion.

IMO a few songs on their debut are and always will be the best these guys will ever do. That's not a putdown because I like all their albums. They are just that good.

Just be prepared for something that sounds quite different.

As an album, The Suburbs is excellent. Just consistently, breathtakingly excellent.

Heading to see Arcade Fire and The National on Thursday. I wouldn't mind seeing them play "The Suburbs" album in its entirety.
May have to check out one of their 3 shows in Chicago this weekend if they aren't all sold out.

Arcade Fire is going to release a deluxe edition on June 27th. It will contain a making of doc by Spike Jonze and 2 all new tracks, "Speaking in Tongues" and "Culture War".
Can't wait to hear the new tracks!

Ugh. I hate when artists do this. I know I'll pick it up, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it, lol.

Really? Screw that. At least humor us and release an EP; I'm not buying a deluxe edition for a making of doc and two tracks.

I'm downloading these 2 new songs and won't feel the least bit bad about it.

It's not just two new tracks and a making of documentary, it's all of that plus the entire Scenes From the Suburbs short film and a hefty (I think upwards of 70+ pages) booklet of photos to go along with it. I'll be buying it.

Then again, Lord knows I've double dipped on enough movies, so maybe I shouldn't be heavily criticizing this.

That's only going to make it more expensive though. You can see how this annoys people who have bought the album already and would just like those two bonus tracks.

I'm probably going to re-buy the album though. I've been listening to it almost non stop for the last couple months, and I've been hyping the Spike Jonze movie in my head for almost as long. I'll just give my old copy to a friend and try to convert them to an Arcade Fire fan.

it's grown on me. It helped seeing some of them live. Arcade Fire will always be a superior live band, though their studio work is excellent as well. With that said, I still rank this as their third best. Funeral is the best, and Neon Bible is a better album than most will admit.
The National opened and they have really grown as a live band. England owns the album version.

Phenomenal album still.
As far Neon Bible being a "better album than most people will admit"... it's a real good album. Really damn good. But IMO not quite as good as Funeral or Suburbs. Still, it's like asking which was your least favorite sexual encounter with both Salma Hayek and Shakira. Or Linda Lavin.

I saw the AF/The National show back in April. Very good.
The guys from The National were out in the crowd on the floor during the Arcade Fire set.
As for the new edition of The Suburbs, how good are the 2 new songs?
