Nope, nothing wrong with you....I think its a pretty good track.

Probably the ONLY track I don't like on the Album is Breathe....it's similar to All Because Of You from HTDAAB, which I hated.

Edit: Pretty good, pretty good. Certainly their best album since Zooropa. Not sure it's as good as their best albums. I'll have to give it a few more listens before I can rank it. It reminds me a lot of The Unforgettable Fire, with lots of interesting guitar tones from The Edge. Some of the songs are strikingly good on the first listen. I feel like the rest will grow on me. Congrats boys, you've pulled yourself out of the mire, and it only took 16 years to do it.
While How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb & Pop weren't some of their best work in the past 15 yrs, I really enjoyed All That You Can't Leave Behind. I actually didn't care too much for Zooropa. For me, Achtung Baby was their last truly great album and this album is just as good, if not better.

ugh. yeah, i really hate this song. after about 4 listens the rest of the album is pretty good.

definite echoes of zooropa & achtung baby, but nothing on this album is as exciting as the songs on those two.

very much looking forward to hearing the title track at a live show. heck, they all sound pretty playable to me. i just hope they don't decide that "get on your boots" is so amazing that they have to play it twice per concert, like they did with "vertigo".

Yeah, that is my least favorite song on the recording and that's because is sounds like some of the filler on the last two albums.

However, I disagree with you this new one is anywhere near as good as Achtung.

It's definitely on the same level as Achtung. Right now there are more tracks I enjoy listening to on this album than Achtung...but that's just me.

Achtung tracks:

Zoo Station
Even Better than the Real Thing
One
Until the End of the World
The Fly

No Line tracks:

No Line on the Horizon
Magnificent
Fez-Being Born
Unknown Caller
White As Snow
Get On Your Boots

So, based on the number of tracks alone it's just as good as Achtung, but this is just my opinion. You may have liked more of the tracks on Achtung than I did.

Yeah, I totally agree it's just an opinion. No big whoop. I don't think this album comes anywhere close. Maybe there are just as many good songs, but it's not much of a comparison to me which one of those songs reaches higher highs.

I love the melody and rhythm of unknown caller, but the lyrics - especially the reboot stuff annoy the bejeebus out of me.

i'm finding the lyrics seem to get worse with each new release. most u2 songs used to have a universal appeal, and now they tend to be filled with references that may sound hip now, but will get more and more ridiculous as time goes by.

What's funny about the MySpace streaming is that you can tell that interest takes a big dive after the overlong "Moment of Surrender", ignoring "Get On Your Boots" since it's the lead single and being streamed independently as well.

There's another 10K dive after track 5 into track 7, again ignoring "Get On Your Boots".

The record company's Australian Web site has been confirmed as the source of the leak.

Amazing how people can view the same thing and come to different conclusions. I think it is the most interesting album they've done in a while, the vocals and lyrics are among their best, and it is timed just right. I'll remember it forever.

Perhaps your mind was not in the right place and you need to give it time to grow on you. I dismissed Coldplay's last album after 1 listen as a piece of crap and now it's among my most treasured albums.

Re: U2: No Line on the Horizon - March 3rd, 2009

I also find it funny how people are always trying to rank U2 against their own albums. Let me tell you all that there is only 1 Joshua Tree, 1 Achtung, Baby! There will never be another and U2 will never be able to top the albums that they made their name on (hell, I'm not convinced War isn't their best album). These albums are fused into our minds as what U2 IS. These albums that are coming out in the twilight of their career may be more accomplished musically, spiritually, whatever, but those classic albums are untouchable. Let's just enjoy the albums in the context of U2's career as another chapter of that illustrious path. I almost never compare successive albums as it's like comparing apples and oranges. Why should one album be any less enjoyable because it's not Achtung, Baby!? If all you want is Acthung, than go back and listen to that and skip the new albums. Try and enter the new albums with a blank slate and enjoy the moment.

Lastly, I LOVE Breathe and am insulted it's been compared to 'All Because of You', one of U2's forgettable moments. Breathe has a lot more going on and is a lot more interesting and I don't regard it as filler...

It's their best work since Achtung Baby, which has been a long time coming. I wasn't comparing song to song, as far as which song is better, just listing which tracks I've enjoyed on each album. Achtung Baby just happens to be their last album where there happens to be more than just 1-2 tracks I've really enjoyed listening to, which isn't the case with Pop, Zooropa, ATYCLB and HTDAAB.

I enjoy listening to U2, just not everything they've done. Since Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby I've been pretty disappointed with their albums until now. This is the first time since 1991 that I've actually listened to the album and said, "Yes, this is GOOD!".

He was talking about the song, Moment of Surrender, not the whole album.

Also, I had the same opinion as you about Cold Play's last album, Viva La Vida. After a second listen I changed my opinion of it and with each listen that followed it grew on me and now I love it.

With No Line, I loved it after my first listen. I thought maybe my opinion would change after several listens but it hasn't.

Go back and re-read my statement in context. I was talking about a song, not an album.

Eh, there's nothing wrong with comparing a band's current work to their past. Expectations play a large roll sometimes in how we perceive music. I admit to that. I really don't care if U2 moves away from the style that made them great, but I wouldn't mind something just a tad bit more adventurous. Just me.

Well, you can always vote with your wallet and not buy. I never bring preconceived notions if I can help it and just go with what's delivered on it's own merits. I think you lessen the experience if you are disappointed because it's not like another album you like.

Whoops, my mistake, but the same premise applies. I disagree with you in every way and love MOS. Great freaking tune IMHO.

Reread what I just wrote. I have no problem with U2 doing something different and all the more for them to push the limits.

Re: U2: No Line on the Horizon - March 3rd, 2009

I've listened through the album several times now and I'm really liking it. I think Magnificent is one of my favorite tracks, the intro of it reminds me of the intro to "We All Die Young" from the Rockstar soundtrack... but then it changes into something different.

I've noticed that with a couple of albums recently. Several of the songs on No Line start one way and then change part way through. There are also several songs on the new Lily Allen that do that.

I get a vibe from it much like "So Cruel" or "Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World" on AB.

<---- obviously I'm biased towards Achtung Baby

Liking what I have heard so far after about 5-6 listens since it leaked. "Magnificent" still stands out quite a bit as something very special.

Yeah... Achtung Baby is the gold standard for U2 in my mind, but it's pretty damn good. I'm looking forward to getting all the extra goodies with my Itunes purchase on March 3.

What are the extras on Itunes and do they not come with the box set?
