Worked for me.
I will absolutely buy my music from Amazon rather than iTunes now. I previously knew they sold mp3s but hadn't realized how easy the process was. |

I must cost them more than $4 to sell the download of a brand-new album; I don't know what the studio charges for the purchase, but it's got to be more than that. Even without postage, storage cost or rent, they've got to be losing money on that transaction, right?

I tried downloading a few songs off Amazon today and it kept canceling my order saying that I wasn't providing a valid method of payment. I really couldn't figure out why but I assumed it was because I moved recently (although I had changed the address of my credit card with the bank over a week ago). Anyways, I just noticed I received an email from Amazon saying it was a problem on their end and I was given a $5 GC "as an apology." That's mighty cool of them.

Here's another bargain mp3 download at Rhapsody. Looks like they are trying to offer some cheap downloads to compete with Amazon. Like Amazon they are DRM free and recorded at 256 kbps.
Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses $2.99 |

This is solid album. Tamacun is great and a cover of Metallica's Orion, excellent stuff. If you like acoustic instrumentals, definitely check this out.
BTW: I've been loving the deals they've had over the last few months! If any of you other vendors are listening (*cough* Apple *cough*), I will only buy DRM-free music, and I will do so happily when it's available at a reasonable price. |
10/7 (Tuesday): Greatest Hits, Vol. 3 by Tim McGraw - $2.99
Another brand new release on the cheap. Personally, I think McGraw and his label should suck it up and put together a nice 2 disc collection a la the George Strait, Garth Brooks and Toby Keith sets instead of releasing individual Greatest Hits albums within 2 years of each other. But that's just me. |
10/8 (Wednesday): You Forgot It in People by Broken Social Scene - $1.99

10/9 (Thursday): Echo & the Bunnymen (Expanded) - $4.99

10/10 (Friday): Ray of Light by Madonna - $1.99
Friday 5 ($5 each until Monday 10/13): Lost in the Sound of Separation by Underoath Love on the Inside by Sugarland The Slip by Nine Inch Nails My Funny Valentine by Miles Davis Spring Awakening: Original Broadway Cast Recording BONUS: looks like today is music day on the Gold Box: DOTD: Nirvana - With the Lights Out - $25.99 Lightning Deals (thx to lightningdeals.com): 6AM PDT 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong [BOX SET] - $25.99 10AM PDT The Pretenders - Pirate Radio [BOX SET] - $36.99 2PM PDT Steve Miller Band - Live From Chicago DVD - $16.99 6PM PDT Lenny Bruce - Let the Buyer Beware [BOX SET] - $29.99 |
A note about "The Slip" from NIN: it is currently available as a free download from nin.com...

Don't know if there should be a new thread for Rhapsody deals. I thought I would continue to post them here since everyone in this thread is interested in bargain MP3 downloads, and they offer fewer bargains compared to Amazon to make a new thread worthwhile. Here's Rhapsody's latest bargain download this week.
Thriller by Michael Jackson $2.99 |
10/11 (Saturday): Controversy by Prince - $1.99
