According to the article about this release in the latest Rolling Stone (Jay-Z cover), that's the plan. Updated 11/22/07 Here's the direct quote... - Longtime U2 manager adds that the band's entire catalog will see similar treatment over the next couple of years. "We will work through all the records and make them special in a new way." |
There is a Easter Egg of the extremely rare footage of "The Dalton Brothers" from the Nov 18, 1987 show in Los Angeles.
1. Go to Video menu on DVD 2. Click the white bar above the "U2" at the top 3. It asks for a password and gives you some letters and numbers to choose from. Type "BETTY" 4. Dalton Brothers footage will play. |
any chance of them releasing the dvd on its own?

finally received mine from BN today. ordered the 2cd/1dvd edition.
while it's a pretty high price to pay for a re-issue, i must say: this set is very nicely done. probably one of the better "deluxe" editions i've seen. it's what i had hoped the pink floyd - piper at the gates of dawn would be like, rather than a cheap dvd type digipack case. anyone holding out should pick it up, and it ain't that hard to get it for ~$30.00 online. not too shabby for 2 cds & a DVD. |
For anyone who owns both the new remastered version and the MFSL version, does the remastered version improve on the MFSL version? I have the MFSL version, and it sounds pretty damn good. Not sure if I should plunk down the cash for the new remastered version or not.

I have to say I really like 'The Sweetest Thing' but this demo doesn't cut it compared to the final more lush sounding single release.

It's not a demo, it was a completed recording intended for Joshua Tree that became a b-side instead. The one you're used to was just a re-recording years later. And maybe it's because I first heard the initial version back with it first came out, but I think it absolutely trounces the newer over-produced version with the silly "do-do do do"s in it. |
Rumor mill has it that the next remaster is coming in May:
Under A Blood Red Sky...Lets hope they include the COMPLETE Red Rocks show... |

Come on, give us War and Achtung Baby.

It will be interesting to see what is on those. Hopefully they give these albums the treatment they deserve.

Well, all the sites seem to just mention regular/deluxe editions, and no mention of the "super deluxe" edition that JT had with the DVD. I doubt these three will include a DVD...

Hopefully these will have better second disc material. |
I got the JT DE for a good price...but like stated above, they are very expensive without a great deal. The packaging is well done and the book is very nice. The DVD in the JT set was very good(imo). I love the doc. The only gripe I have about the concert is that they had to edit it due to musical rights. I am led to believe that UBRS DVD is due mid-July...no word yet if it will be the complete show...most likely will have DTS /DD and pcm tracks like the other U2 concert discs(Pop/Zoo/Slane).

Hopefully the Under A Blood Red Sky cd will be the full show. I have a boot of it and it is awesome.
