Yea I used Ironside as an alarm for a while. Right now for my general tone Im using "Galvanize" by the Chemical Brothers. I have specific ones too for certain people. For example, I use the chorus to Tupac's "Dear Mama" when my mother calls me.

I always use http://www.funformobile.com to send ringtones to my phone.

I just thought of another song you could use for a ringtone that would get you noticed...

"Ode to Tipper Gore" by Warrant.

"I wanna hear you scream the hair off your nuts!!!" would make a good text tone, too.

The intro to Yellow Ledbetter has been mine for a few years now...

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9UyRRvlzhTw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9UyRRvlzhTw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Ignore the intro...only vid I could find on youtube...ringtone stops just before lyrics start...sometimes I delay answering the phone just to listen to a few more seconds.

My ringtone is "Marquee Moon" by Television. The buildup to that song is awesome.

right now, i have the Xfiles theme song. aside from making me laugh, and having other people giggle, i actually like it!

i also use the twin peaks theme as a ringtone/alarm clock.

finally, i used to use the very beginning of tom waits' "cemetery polka" as a ringtone. that one's awesome!

Nice!

Thought of 3 more this morning on my way into work that I'm probably going to make today:

Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train (think this was already mentioned)
Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music (the intro 30 sec)
Talking Heads - Life During Wartime

I got a new cell phone this week and a whole new world of ringtones has been opened up to me (my phone of 4-5 years pretty much only did midi files and it was a pain putting them on there).

Last night I put the following on my phone:

"The Gonk (Remix)" by the Noveltones (from Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and "Robot Chicken")
"Puttin' on the Ritz" from Young Frankenstein (along with an isolated "Super Duper" for text message alerts)
"Just a Friend" by Biz Markie
"Super Mario Brothers" theme (along with the sound when you die playing the game)
"Zombie Nation"
"Peanut Butter Jelly Time" from "Family Guy"
"Born Slippy" by Underworld
"Beat Kids" theme from "Wonder Showzen"
Homer Simpsons screaming "Ah! Cobras!" (from when he had night terrors)
CTU ring from "24"

I'll probably throw a few more in tonight, like the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" theme, Will Ferrell saying "dingle dongle dingle dongle, someone's calling you, Goulet," and DJ Mark the 45 King's "900 Number."

Man, I can't believe that I've turned into that guy. At least I keep my phone on vibrate at work.

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

i made my first ever ring tone last night and it was GN’R’s Sweet Child O’ Mine

It made me think of all the other great riffs that would make helluva ring tones. Here are some of my suggestions:

Layla – Eric Clapton
Smoke on The Water – Deep Purple
Whole Lotta Love – Led Zep
Iron Man – Black Sabbath

My brother has So Whatcha Want by the Beastie Boys, which always strikes me as appropriate.

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

My wife's stepdad has the theme from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It's very effective, though I think I would reserve it for bosses or ex's.
