Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

my current tone is Alice Cooper Under My Wheels "Telephone Is Ringin..." Its so obvious, why I never used it before is beyond me.

I use The Hellion by Judas Priest for my text messages

I have U2's Sometimes you can't make it on your own - "and it's you when I look in the mirror and it's you when I don't pick up the phone, sometimes you can't make it on your own" is how it starts..

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

I usually have my phone on Vibrate, but when I go ringtone, I alternate between these MIDI faves:

Gary Numan - Cars (opening riff is a killer)
Police - Can't Stand Losing You
Specials - A Message to You, Rudy
XTC - Senses Working Overtime
KISS - Rock and Roll all Nite
Ramones - Rockaway Beach

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

Can't remember the song but my previous phone rang "Pick up the phone! Pick Pick up the phone!" I thought it was the best ringtone ever I'll have to find it again for my current phone (it was a free download from Sprint).

Ha. I just added that ringtone for any unidentified caller. Before that it was "Who Are You?" by The Who.

For a long time, my familiar caller song was opening to The Shins' "Australia", followed by a brief period with Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)", but I just changed it to Kanye's "Love Lockdown".

Any other suggestions? Finally got a new phone with ringtone options.

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

I use the start of the Beatles "Help" as my basic ringtone. Very fitting.

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone,
Help!

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

currently using the first 30 seconds of My Curse by Killswitch Engage. I love it.
Prior to that, it was the first 30 seconds of In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed & Cambria

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

Have been looking for some inspiration, ringtone-wise, and I got some great hints I never thought of (like Men at Work "who can it be now").

So I thought I'll bring this back up again and add something aswell.

Monkey Island Theme - probably my all time favourite. It's a grrreat tune and you'll be the hero of every nerd (or pirate) you meet.

Milt Buckner - The Beast - great tune too and everybody knows it

Wilson Picket - Land of the 1000 Dances - another classic, makes your feet move

The Trashmen - Surfin Bird - peter griffin ruined my life

The Alan Parsons Project - Sirius - The song played during Chicago Bulls entering

Horace Silver - Acid, Pot or Pills - great when your phone goes off while you're beeing searched by the cops

Tennessee Ernie Ford - Sixteen Tons

David Holmes - Faust 72

Raul Midon - Sunshine

So, any other suggestions?

Cheers

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

I have the second chorus for "Under the Milky Way" by The Church. Sometimes I use the last 30 seconds for New Order's "Ceremony".

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

Right now I'm using the opening 30 seconds of the song "Stylo" by Gorillaz. For a while I used the instrumental "Conroy" by CAKE.

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

I used to use the dethklok murder tone, but it was way too annoying for day to day use (as it's meant to be). <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eWdEXAg1su0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now I use Thunderhorse. Which starts off low so if you want to keep from disturbing folks just answer it quickly.

Currently using ELO's Telephone Line.

Prior to that it was the opening to Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling."

Re: Songs that make great Ringtones

One of my buddy's ex-wife had the intro of Doves' There Goes the Fear as hers and I always thought it was a great pick.
