Nice.

The sad part is I really used to like the Foo Fighters. I just think the writing on their last two albums has been pretty poor. I feel the same way about Weezer.

4. The Hold Steady
5. The Liars
6. The Arcade Fire
7. The White Stripes
8. Modest Mouse
9. Radiohead

18. Queens of the Stone Age
19. The Silver Jews
20. Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks

Lets see where your trendy bands will be in 10 years. Half of the bands you have up there are just trendy bands right now who may or may not have released a decent album. Saying that those 20 bands are Better than the Foo Fighters makes me laugh...seriously.. im laughing..righttt...Now.. hehe

heres the thing. I really dig 6,7,8,9,18,(seeing QOTSA Sat), and like Some of the stuff from some of the rest. But seriously, adding Mogwai and Sigur Ros is such a trendy throw in. I have albums from both, but COME ON!! Are you serious?? Who the HELL just throws on some effin Mogwai while driving down the road? Who has them on regular rotation? There are moods for everything, but COME ON, when you think of awesome bands do you Really think of Mogwai and Sigur Ros? Really?...Really???

I have nothing against spoon, but I seen them on TV for their new album, and I must say, they sounded horrid. Yikes. Anyone else see them on Letterman a few weeks back? Very amateurish sounding. I even thought while I was watching, "Crap if people like That, Im sure Id do just as good or better". Dont know if I could, but seriously they sounded like they just wrote the song an hour before the show.

You have much to learn about music "foofighters7"

but who knows, if people said something about my favorite band I would probably react the same way.

Yeah, right after Dave's bypass surgery. I like Dave* and I like the band.

* I was referring to Grohl, but I like the other Dave too...

ANYways...I eagerly await this disc.

i'm with you there. i really really like the first two albums. always have. i enjoyed the third. i loved dave grohl back behind the drums with QOTSA. the last two albums have been so bland, it made me wonder if grohl was out of ideas. i don't have much faith in the new one.

Jp,, you sir are a moron.

Your statement only tells me you have a very weak argument. You have no idea what your talking about, so you feel you have to strike out at something you cant beat, but thats what people with no idea do, right?

So get this dimwit, if you have nothing to say, and have no way of speaking your thoughts without simply making random statements toward people who you do not know, dont.

I love it when slackjawed gawkers start saying things like "you have much to learn about music". Ive played music for years, I play 5 instruments and am in 2 bands. Simply because you cant argue a point, dont start talking shite, youll soon find out your nothing special. I guess we all have to learn that at some point.

The main thing here is, why be a jackass? If you cant argue a point, just dont respond. If you didnt like my thoughts on whatever band it is your in love with, why not give your point of view instead of being an ass?

You can't really expect much objectivity by someone whose screen name is the same as the subject matter of the thread.

Easy there ff7.

First of all, I don't think JPRaup's comment was mean-spirited. You should also remember what opinions are like..

While I agree that the "well, since you don't actually do so-and-so, you have no idea what you're talking about" comment sounds pretentious, the usual follow-up stating your (not "your" yours, but "your" in general ) "qualifications" sound just as pretentious.

F'rexample, I stated on a Prince board that I liked Michael Bland's drumming on the song "Shhh" more than anyone elses, and the rebuttal was something akin to "you guys don't know what you're talking about!!! do you even know how to play drums??!". What exactly does one thing have to do with the other? Does that make my opinion less valid? Do I really care what someone else is telling me about my opinion? Not at all. Just look at my sig.

On the other hand, any Prince fan that thinks his latest disc "Planet Earth" is his best album ever recorded knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about music

Well I was referring to the fact that your username is foofighters in a thread about Foo Fighters. If you get this serious about someone's comments I can only imagine how batshit you will go when the new Foo Fighters album gets awful reviews and forgotten within months, like their previous effort.

FF, you and I get along well, so please listen to me when I say that this is not the path you wish to travel down. All roads lead to suspension.

Honestly though, Whether or not you intended it, that does comes off as rather snobbish, Considering that this thread was started about the Foo Fighters and the poster in question has the user name foofighters7.
Yes his response is a overboard but it seems you kind of propped yourself up to be at the firing end of those comments that followed.

Personally I feel that Arcade Fire blows the donkey, But if somebody with the username "GayforArcadeFire" was raving that they are the best band going today, in a thread about the new Arcade Fire album. I would refrain from pointing out that their are at least 2 dozen bands that I feel are better.

Maybe. But as another poster noted, it's easy to say you know two dozen better bands but why not post the list. I did and ff7 had every opportunity to discuss the issue. Instead, he took the easy way out and mocked the bands I provided. Then he started attacking. On that same note, it's easy to call a band the best in the world. Backing it up is the hard part.

Heard "the Pretender" last night. Gave off a LedZep "Stairway To Heaven" vibe at the beginning, but it's not long before it starts rocking.

I'm just wishing the Foos would put out a greatest hits collection sometime - they've certainly got the material.

I think In Your Honor was a stellar album and the acoustic show I saw (one that one filmed for the Skin and Bones Live DVD) was easily one of the best concerts I have ever seen. (I'm well over 400 concerts / 300 live bands).

But I'm wrong since someone posted a list of 25 bands that are better.

Well, the first single "The Pretender" is up on iTunes. I downloaded it first thing this morning and am really impressed with it. I love the tempo changes and am very impressed with it - glad that it's not just 'best of you 2'. I think Gil Norton + Foo Fighters = gold, and judging by their usual release patterns, this is probably one of the weaker songs on the record (or at least that's what I've though of their 'first singles' for the past few records)... Awesome.

Guess whos BAAacck?? hehe it was totally worth it.

And just a note, I didnt fly off because he said anything about the foos, like I said, everyone has opinions. I flew off because of the statement made that I had alot to learn about music. Instead of trying to carry on a conversation, he just made a random statement which I took as him trying to provoke a reaction. So I did. Overreact, yes im sure I did. Oh well it was worth it though. Its done now.

The Pretender sounds great, alot of depth musically to it I think.

I have a feeling this album will get great reviews with the range of music.
Actually IYH got overall really good reviews. Actually most of their albums have recieved good reviews as a whole. Funny thing, TCATS is their most liked album, yet when It came out it didnt get that Great of reviews, simply because it was so different from the first I think.

Went and seen QOTSA saturday, great show. I would love to see a co-headliner tour with Foo, but by the time Foo tours late this year/early next, QOTSA will probably be done. I hope they end up back at smaller venues, thats for sure. So much cooler when dave can yell at fans, and screw with them.

Welcome back foofighters7.

Just heard "The Prentender" on youtube and it's a pretty decent first single. If this does end up being one of the weaker songs on the album (as their singles sometimes are) we could be in for good lp. They should have released it early summer though. The Foos are a windows down, hot summer day band if I ever heard one.

Thanks Auto.

I agree that they are a windows down summer kind of band, to me at least. For some reason they come out late in the year almost all the time it seems.
What can I say, I do love standing outside in below freezing conditions waiting to get in to see a Foo concert. They put out the record in sept-nov. then tour during the winter, so I have several freezing stories about waiting outside to get in to the show.

a few years ago in Chicago, it was Jan. The temp was like 9 degrees. I leave my jacket in the car because I dont want to die of heat exhaustion inside. Just had on a t-shirt with a long t-shirt over that. It was insane...wait wait...I was Insane.. so stupid. But hey I got a great spot at the show. hehe

Then again, I really dont like outside shows soo...guess ill take the winter shows.
Cant wait for this album. I love hearing that its gonna have piano, and arangements ect. sounds awesome.
