Once in a while, I'll see a picture of Aaliyah, and think, "man, she was hot. It's too bad she died." That's pretty much the extent of it, though. Sorry if it's not the response you were looking for, but if it's any consolation, I care even less about John Lennon. I stroll past that Strawberry Fields memorial thingie all the time, and it's a constant source of amusement/irritation to always have to walk around these touristy types solemnly standing around like he was Gandhi or something.

I forgot that she even existed. When I saw this thread, I had to remember who she was, what she did, and that she had, in fact, died. She could still be alive making music and I would feel exactly the same, except I would have had to take one less step in my thought process in remembering her death.

All of my thoughts of Alliyah drained from my head while I await the OP's next post.

The original poster asked if I felt any empathy. I can't empathise with her and her death until I too am dead, and while there are some thigns I would martyr myself for, Aaliyah is NOT one of them!

I think of her with a little sorrow when I here one of her songs, but that's just sorrow because such a young woman on the top of her world died.

Not to be cold or uncaring, but:
I had never heard of her when the accident happened, so I guess the answer would be 'no'. Haven't thought about it once since I heard about it.

Sure, it's too bad someone died, but the reality is a lot of people die every day. It's the great equalizer.

He said I commented about a Chloe Jones TV show, and that she said she wanted to be a funeral director, and he wanted more information about that. I never posted anything in that thread, and nobody in that big three-post thread made any type of reference whatsoever, before the thread was closed.

Forget her creativity, what this interview truly highlights is her humility.

I remember how I spent the fall of 2001 mourning for her. It was the biggest news story for weeks. What possibly could have topped it?

That's what I was thinking. I really didn't pay any attention to her when she was around, and now I'm glad I didn't. Another spoiled, marginally talented singer, that thinks being able to carry a tune makes you "creative". Does the world really need two Madonnas?

Seriously, I didn't know dead celebrities could have stalkers. And what a really random choice for someone to be obsessed over. I will say her death did get majorly overshadowed by 9-11 happening just two weeks later, which is unfortunate but what can you do?

The problem with your theory is that one is the most successful female solo artist in history and the other is....dead.
