Classic response.

I have to agree - the world mourns people relative to the impact they had on our lives. Aaliyah may have been talented (I am not sure as R&B/Rap/Hip-hop shits me and I avoid it at all costs) and she may have been the sweetest person on the planet, but she didn't exactly set the world on fire or influence a generation.

There are probably a thousand artists that are more missed and mourned than Aaliyah.

Eh, it's sad when anybody dies so young (ok, maybe not ANYBODY) but it's not anything that eats at me. To me, she was just another in a long line of identical sounding R&B singers (Brandy, Mya, 1000s of singers I've forgotten about, etc).

I cannot remember any of her songs, but i know a few John Lennon's songs.

I'm not really a fan of either person's work but i think that sums things up.

Not really. It didn't really affect me when it happened, let alone so many years later.

Good luck to you, though.

Borat?

Too bad there were no 20-ish R&B singers who came after her.

LMFAO Borat indeed... hehehe... yes, there certainly has been a void of hypersexual teenaged marginally talented black R&B/hip-hop singers since her death.

Seriously I thought it was too bad she died, not because she was so talented since I had no interest in anything she was doing so I didn't consider her to be especially talented. I thought it was sad because it's sad when people die, especially if they're young and they die in an accident, famous or not. Other than that no impact. Other than your threads, I pretty much forgot she ever existed.

She did die in an accident right--an overloaded plane or something like that? I can't really remember anymore.

I'm just going to come out and admit that I cry over her every day, and that her death was the worst thing to happen to music, nay, AMERICA! in the last 100 years.

I bet if Aaliyah had been in the Matrix sequels they would have made twice as much money and won every Academy Award.

If you say Aaliyah's name three times, you will trigger the start of The Rapture.

I'm from Detroit originally (moved to TaXXXas 2 and 1/2 yrs ago), and forgot about her within a few days of her death...at least, until this thread started (I was not a fan at all).

Detroit is a city of millions of people who are worried about drugs, gangs, violent crime and a shitty economy. They don't think much about Aaliyah, and no one else does either, apart from her family and friends. She wasn't famous (if you can call it that) long enough to have any lasting impact.

I can't believe I took the time and effort to write a response to such an insane fucking question.

I would, except I don't know how to pronounce it.
